--=/\=- Space Fleet's Elite Forces Manual -=/\=- ____________________________________________________________________ Welcome This manual contains everything you need to know about SFEF and Star Trek Chat Room Simming, please read it even if you do already know how to sim. Thank you, Vice Admiral TexMist Adder--President "SFEF: Operations Commander & Commanding Officer "AOL Division" -=/\=- Space Fleet's Elite Forces -=/\=- _____________________________________________________________________ SFEF's Star Trek Chat Room Simming The first thing you have to know about Star Trek simming is that it is a continuously running game. When you are online under your screenname you still have to go along with the whole idea of being a Starfleet Officer. By saying this I mean you will address higher ranker officers as "sir" (unless they say you don't have to) and also saluting and all the other things that go on in the show Star Trek, you will have a character in the Trek world and you will have to act as a responsible Starfleet officer would. You will also show every member in the group respect as if we were all a part of Starfleet, no matter what rank or title they hold and also please offer help other members if they need it. You should especially show respect for the higher ranking officers and especially help the new simmers and new members. Next you will learn about SFEF's ranking and points system. The following ranks are from lowest to highest. Cadet Ensign Lieutenant Junior Grade Lieutenant Lieutenant Commander Commander Captain Fleet Captain Commodore 1* Admiral 2* Admiral (Rear Admiral) 3* Admiral (Vice Admiral) 4* Admiral 5* Admiral Senior Admiral Fleet Admiral Senior Fleet Admiral _____________________________________________________________________ Now you will learn all about the possible positions on a ship and/or starbase. Adm = Admiral, (remember there are many levels of Admiral rank) they can be the CO of a ship or starbase, just be at the sim to watch, or have a position if they request one. CO = The Commanding Officer (usually rank of Captain), They are the Commanding officer of a ship, not necessarily the one in charge or the highest rank but they are the ones who make the sims and missions and Sim times for the ship. CO's usually also make actions for the sim. XO = First Officer, (usually commander) they are second in charge of the ship but not necessarily the second highest ranking officer on the ship, they take over command of the ship if the CO or Adm can't make the sim or they are given orders to. TAC = Tactical officer (any rank) they control the weapons systems, defensive systems and sometimes scanners, they mostly tell info on things going on inside the ship or on enemy ships, (so can OPS) they also sometimes make communication depending on CO. OPS = Operations (any rank) they are the information person of the ship, they use most of the scanners and tell the CO and XO what they ask. They are in charge of the ship being fully operational as well. HELM = Helm officer (any rank) they are the ones who literally "drive" the ship, they set in courses and use evasive maneuvers when enemy ships are attacking. They engage the warp drive and steer the ship. CSEC = Chief of Security (any rank) they are in charge of keeping the ship in order and preventing chaos and intruders. They are in charge of the other security officers and they are responsible for the safety of every crew member. ASEC = Assistant Security officer (any rank, usually below CSEC). They have the same duties as CSEC but they follow the CSEC orders (not over the CO's). CMO = Chief Medical officer (any rank). They are like the doctors with high tech tools and gadgets. They are in charge of MED officers if there are any. They are responsible for the well being of the entire crew. AMO = Assistant Medical officer (any rank, usually under CMO) They do the same as the CMO except the CMO gives them orders. CENG = Chief Engineer (any rank) They control the ships internal functions and are in charge of keeping the warp drive together and at optimum efficiency. They are in charge of all ENG of the ship. CENG is usually the one who makes manual repairs to the ship when needed. AENG = Assistant Engineer (any rank) they do the same as CENG except take orders from CENG. CSCI = Chief Science officer (any rank) they are in charge of science projects and do a lot of investigating on many different things. Their work has a broad job description, they sometimes also use scanners on the bridge. ASCI = Assistant Science officer (any rank) they do the same as CSCI and follow orders that CSCI officer gives. CNS = Counselor, they are in charge of the mental health of the entire crew, Counselorshelp other members of the crew if they are troubled or have problems. (Telepath's make great counselors.) When joining, you are supposed to choose three of these positions you would like to have the most **(if they are open on the ship you requested)** and you get a ship and time. Sims usually take place 1 time a week at a time convenient for the whole crew, if it is a chat room sim. Some Reminders: You must always get permission from the CO before bringing a guest into the Sim. Also if you are coming into the Sim under a New or different Screenname please advice your CO in IM before entering. Next are the: Instructions on How to Sim When the sim is about to start the CO, XO or Admiral will call Attention or **At Attention** and everyone will do the following. ::AA:: That means you are at attention. You will NOT talk durring :AA:: until the sim starts or the CO gives you permission. You should go to ::AA:: and ::salute:: any higher ranking officer when they enter the room you are in and stay that way untill they say otherwise or At Ease. The CO will then assign POSTS and give a short Briefing of the Sim and the Sim will begin with **Begin Sim** Also after the Sim begins you are not to IM the CO, they are busy running the Sim. You should direct all questions to the XO. (Unless you have been instruction prior to the Sim to IM the CO directly) If the CO or Higher ranking officer calls At Ease do this ::AE:: it means you can talk again and be at ease. Now: :: :: means you are making a personal action, you put :: and :: before and after an action, like this. <CO><XO>/(CO)(XO) ::runs to turbolift:: the < *> means your position-we also use (*) for Aim Users, I suggest you copy your abbreviated position as above in those two marks, like so. <CO>/(CO) or for helm it would be <HELM>/(HELM) and for Operations officer it would be <OPS>/ (OPS) and for the rest of the sim you put that before you put anything. And when you want to talk to someone you do the following, say you are a Tactical officer and you want to talk to the Chief of Security, this is how you should do so. <TAC><CSEC>/(TAC)(CSEC) What are you doing? The first thing, <TAC>/(TAC) means it is you talking or making an action and your post is tactical, the second part <CSEC>/(CSEC) means the person you are talking to or making an action at. If you are talking to no one in particular you would just do this. <TAC>/(TAC) what a lousy job. As I said the :: *:: means an action but it can also be a thought. So if someone was talking to you it would look like this if you were the TAC officer. <CO><TAC>/(CO)(TAC) Fire weapons now!!. Then you would do this. <TAC><CO>/(TAC)(CO) Firing weapons sir ::fires weapons:: Direct hits on the enemy ship. Depending on what the plot line was you would say something that sticks to the plot line. Another important thing. Usually sometime before the CO starts the sim they give you a "Briefing" you are to stick to the briefing the whole time, and follow the objectives, don't wander around and do your own thing. Also, there are things known as "Actions" and only a CO can make them or an Admiral. In certain cases the CO can designate the XO or certain other people (i.e. Away Team Leader) to write a limited amount of action statements. Actions are put in *'s like ***Enemy ship is destroyed*** which means the enemy ship has been destroyed. These are so CO's have control over the sim and there is no chaos. And you would go along like the enemy ship has been destroyed and the CO had nothing to do with it. When the Sim Ends or Pauses with **End Sim** You will return to :AA:: Any promotions will be awarded, along with statements from the CO and XO then you will be dismissed. ***DISMISSED*** You will go to :AE: And either talk with your fellow crew or leave the room The CO/XO will then send in the Sim Report to the President and AOL Division Commanders so you will recieve your points for promotions. _____________________________________________________________________ Word/Expressions to know Sim = Simulation ::AA:: = At attention ::*:: = Actions (Used for going to AA and other actions) << * >> = Hints and positions (sometimes actions) (anything out of the sim) also if you wanted to talk out of character during a sim, (which shouldn't happen too much) you would talk in these ----> <<LOL, funny>> or <<Whatever you would want to say out of character would go here>> You may also use Brackets {{*}} ::AE:: = At Ease {S logcompl = Log is open **Action: " " ** = Something has happened, whatever the CO or Admiral says after that is what occurred. TL = Turbolift Warp = A fast speed (Usually ships can go anywhere from warp 1 to 9. point something) Impulse = Slower the warp speed Thrusters = Slower then impluse speed, usually used for maneuvering or leaving space dock. Transwarp = Warp 10 and higher Phaser's = Laser type weapons Torpedoes = Torpedoes are weapons Quantum Torpedoes = More powerful then Photon torp's. Engage = go Shuttle = a mini ship used for many purposes. BOP = Bird of Prey (usually a Klingon ship) (Also Romulan) Sick bay = Where you bring the sick people or injured for CMO's assistance Brig = Jail Bridge = Main control station of ship, Where CO, XO, TAC, OPS, HELM are most of the time Borg = a race which has been assimilated into the Borg collective. Transporter = Beams people where the CO says they should go TPR = Transporter room Warp Drive = Creates warp speed and helps power the ship. * = Before an Action or At Attention calling. Also in the ranking system a 5* Admiral would mean a 5 Star Admiral. OOC: =Out of Character @ = You should put this before your post if you are off the ship or on an away mission. <<You must know these terms to be able to sim>> ______________________________________________________________________ Creating your personal character for the Simming world In order to have a character for simming you should have a character biography or profile made up so you can refer to it if needed or give it to others if they ask for it. Here is a format you may use, the following should be included in a normal character bio. Name: Race: Rank: Family Members: Gender: Age: Hair Color: Eye Color: Height/Weight: Personal Description: Place of birth: Marital Status: Current Assignment: Personal History: Personal Quote: Those are the things you should include in your bio if you wish to have a sim character. _____________________________________________________________________ Please Note: The more Recruits you get for SFEF the quicker you will be promoted.
