Group History And Information Space Fleet's Elite Forces started up in December of 1998 as just a Star Trek sim group called Star Fleet's Elite Forces. It started out with just 3 members, [email protected] the founder, [email protected] and [email protected]. As soon as possible recruiting started, many ships were formed, not all survived but some did. When Star Fleet's Elite Forces became stable Admiral Lemax wanted to make something to give out to the group members not only to give information and updates on simming but something that the Star Trek Simmers would enjoy and like to read as well. Soon after that, the Star Fleet's Elite Forces newsletter was created and sent out. At first all SFEF members HAD to sim in order to be members of the group but soon the newsletter progressed and people wanted to just get the newsletter, people that weren't interested in simming. So the SFEF Fan Club was created so that members could just get the newsletter and not sim. At first the newsletter didn't have much more then sim group updates a few links and an article or two on Trek. But as more people joined and became interested the newsletter grew and progressed as well. After some time it got permanent writers, people voicing their opinions, and even sponsors. On October 1, 1999 the group name changed to Space Fleet's Elite Forces. Today the newsletter is still improving, becoming bigger and better and gathering more members from the online world. As the fan club progressed greatly the sim group also started to prosper and get members. Due to the recruiting efforts of the group and one [email protected] ships began to fill up and sim and more were created. As ships were being filled more were being created and this cycle is continuing still. SFEF's main simming base is on America Online but it has also branched out to other places as well. |
