THE OLD CLOCK IN THE CORNER

Author Lewis Jones

The old clock in the corner can tell us alot. It has secrets untold. Instances that are forgotten. The past, present, and looking to the future. The time I'm interested in is past, please. Clock let me see into your past. Clock you need only go back maybe no more than 200 years.

Clock....I could go back several hundred years, oh not me personally, but as a clock yes. First I was as shadow cast upon the ground. I could give dinner time and if you went in the right direction you knew when to eat breakfast, or turn the other way for supper. The man, the Chinese filled me with water and as I emptied from one vessel to another. Could be measured to mark the passing of time. Now, I came into existence about three centuries ago. I've evolved until now, and here I stand. Go ahead just ask me something.

Ok mister clock give me some facts if you please. How did I get here? Clock....Well to be truthful. I can't be specific as to the hours and minutes, however I'll give it a try. Seems like back in about 1821 in England there was a little boy born by the name of Nathaniel Jones, and soon after that in Ireland a little girl named Emma Lee. Both in turn grew up and immigrated to America. Now lets not get ahead of our times. Another little boy was born, I'm not sure where but his name was Christorpher Homan and a Little girl by the name of Sarah Riggle.

It seems to me that all of this was natural, as the English and Irish meet in their new found home ( America) and were married. Also Christopher meets Sarah and it's love at first sight. There is no hurry as I do the same thing over and over. Tick Tock, Tick Tock, but fun doing that so I'll continue my story.

Nathaniel and Emma brough forth a little boy his name being William E. Jones born 1857 in Polk City, Iowa. Now it seems Chris and Sarah brought forth a daughter, Sarah Francis Homan born July 13, ???? in Danville, IL. You think, well so what does that prove, however this is only half the story. I'll just go back in time, time is what i've got. Back in about 1820 there was another little boy that came kicking into this world, he being Thomas Jackson and a little girl named Hannah Ebersole. And on this other side another little boy Nathan Wesley Sedgley and a little girl named Persis Small. Now Providence had a hand in what took place. There were no national ball games, no dating games, just nature trying her best to keep things moving. Thomas meets Hannah and Nathan finds Persis, you might say they lived happily ever after, well I don't know about that but there was born to Tom and Hannah, little Benjamin on Nov. 2, 1841 in Ohio, and to Nat and Persis was born little Emma Firilla Sedgley, Jan 12, 1867 in Columbia City, IN. You might say we are back to about where we were, but where did I come from?

Hold your horses, don't rock the boat, keep your shirt on I know where i'm at. Tick Tock, Tick Tock trying to catch up on my tick tocks.

I know we have William and Sarah and Benjamin and Emma, don't forget there in Iowa, Illinois, Ohio, and Indiana. Cupid has a job to do, and cupid always gets the job done. William see's Sarah and his heart almost stopped, but it didn't and they fell in love and their little boy turned out to be William E. Jones, Dec. 26, 1886, in Des Moines, Iowa. Way down there in that Hooiser state the love but strikes again and Benjamin meets Emma. Awhile later a sweet little girl comes into this world by the name of Persis Carolyn Jackson, Born July 3, 1891 in Huntington, IN.

From Ireland, England, Ohio, Illinois and Iowa were getting close We have to move by wagon train, don't forget, a clock has wheels that turns on it's own, however other wheels have to be turn by man or horse. Well it happened there was a meeting in Deepwater, NO. That changed things and brings up a little history. William sees that sweet little gal with pig tails and a beautiful smile and cupid strikes again. They found the good Rev. Walkays and were married Dec. 24, 1907 in Deepwater, MO. To this love match was born a boy, Orie Wilbert, May 14, 1909, Deepwater, MO, A girl Irene Ellen, Jan 2, 1912 in Foster, MO., Renetta Beatice, Dec 16, 1916 Foster, MO., Mary Willadene, March 12,1926 at Three Sand, OK..

Let's see, buse, buss, Quite that. Oh yes I did over look something. Let's see, oh yes, Lewis Herbert seems to be in there somewhere. Now when was it, boy, time keeps running oh, there it is Jan 17, 1922, wow! A 12lb boy, now hows that? Here's something else.

Orie was married to Ruth Milligan, July 12, 1927

Renetta was married to Clell Price Nov. 11, 1933
