THE MISSION OF SINGLES FOR CHRIST

We believe that God has a plan for us to live meaningful, happy and productive lives at this stage of our human existence. Given the formidable obstacles that we face, we need a renewed relationship with God and the power of the Holy Spirit to live a new life.

We need a support environment where God's plan is revealed to us and where we can draw strength from other single men and women who are committed to love and support us.

We need a group where our energy and talents can be developed and put to good use to serve God and His people. We need a place where we can be formed to prepare us for the next stage of our lives, to marry or to live a single life in total dedication to the Lord.

We therefore commit to the work of personal renewal and evangelization in our milieu as part of the larger work of the COUPLES FOR CHRIST Family and in line with its global mission of "Renewing The Face of the Earth."

THE PHILOSOPHY OF SINGLES FOR CHRIST

The following embodies the beliefs and ideals of the CFC SINGLES FOR CHRIST as a ministry, from which flow the Christian attitudes, values and behavior, as well as its programs, teachings and approaches to Christian renewal.

A. We BELIEVE that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and we safeguard its sanctity by being pure in thoughts, in words and in deeds.

B. We BELIEVE that God gave us gifts and talents with which we can serve and glorify Him and allow us to live fruitful lives. We believe in the proper stewardship of these gifts by striving to succeed in our chosen work or profession without sacrificing our Christian values and ethics.

C. We BELIEVE in the indissolubility of Christian marriage and the importance of family life in the plan of God, in the sanctity of human life and the right of the unborn child.

D. We BELIEVE that we are called to live out our faith fully and share actively in the life and mission in our church - through prayers, evangelization and service to others.

E. We BELIEVE in living productive lives as citizens of our country, obeying its laws and respecting its institutions. We believe that we have a duty to the future generations in protecting our natural environment and in combating the proliferation of evil in our social environment.

F. We BELIEVE that individual and corporate renewal can best be achieved by having a deep personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior by calling upon the power of the Holy Spirit in our day-to-day life and by making full use of all charismatic gifts at our disposal.

WHAT IS CFC-SINGLES FOR CHRIST?

A Singles Renewal Ministry of the Couples for Christ (CFC) is a work of Christ which raises up the Christian couples and establishes Christian families committed to the work of evangelization and winning the world for Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. Focusing on Jesus while building God's kingdom, it reaches out to others by being global, wholistic, and Catholic. The CFC-Singles for Christ is a ministry of Couples for Christ intended or single men and women who are at least 21 years of age. Top

WHY IS SUCH A MINISTRY NECESSARY?

The single men and women of today face an uncertain future, without much to hold on since traditional support structures are starting to break up around them. Being on their own now, they experience tremendous pressure to succeed, or perhaps for most simply to survive. They face the real world that may lead them in a path away from God. They chart career paths that do not consider God as a priority and worse, develop new activities and habits, including vices, that make them turn away from God. CFC-SFC intends to provide an environment for personal renewal. It is a support environment where God's plan in revealed to us and where we can draw strength from other single men and women who are committed to love and support us. It is an environment where energies and talents can be developed and put to good use to serve God and his people. It is a place where we can be formed to prepare us for the next stage of life, to marry, or to live a single life in total dedication to the Lord. Top

HOW DOES A SINGLE BECOME A MEMBER OF SINGLES FOR CHRIST?

Those who want to join SFC go through a seminar which is called a Christian Life Program (CLP). The seminar is divided into 3 modules of 4 sessions each of around 2 hours duration. This seminar prepares the single to a life of prayers and good works which is the calling of Singles for Christ. Top

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE CHRISTIAN LIFE PROGRAM?

They are made part of a small cell-group called a household. The household carry on a life of prayer, service and fellowship. Here at NB2E, the Singles meet regularly once a week either to participate in a prayer meeting and sharing, help in the church (church choir), or meet for fellowship and social events. Top

HOW ABOUT CHRISTIAN FORMATION?

Finishing the CLP is just the beginning of a long process of growth and transformation in Christ. As such, SFC provides a continuing program of formation, which includes teachings, recollections, retreats, etc. Top

WHAT IS A HOUSEHOLD?

A household is a group composed of from 5 - 8 members and is led by a household head. SFC mirrors the Couples for Christ organization which relies on many leaders (every 9th member is a leader within SFC) and small, intimate, groups of men and women.

The purpose of the household is to build an environment for the support of the Christian life of singles and to provide a means of encouraging and hastening growth in the Christian life. As such the household group builds faith and provides for mutual encouragement through sharing of experiences and God's practical wisdom.
