Aromatherapy

The concept of healing with aromas is at least 6000 years old. Believe it or not, it didn't have a name until a French chemist, Rene-Maurice Gattefosse, used essential oils to heal a burn, and then another scientist Dr. Jean Valnet, was enthralled with Gattefosse's work (Butcher).

Many psychologists through time have said that memory is the most strongly tied to scent. Scent can therefore help to shape memory, mood and behavior.

When designing, and you want to have a positive experience or you want to get the project done faster, you can use certain scents to help to encourage energy, movement, happiness etc. After the actual design has been accomplished, each room can be used to evoke certain emotions, and even help to alleviate stress or depression, when certain scents are diffused in them.

Often the ways to get scents spread through a room is by the traditional essential oils in a diffuser, incense sticks or cones, candles or sprays.
