Rosters:
Each owner will fill their roster with 20 players. The required positions are:
Catcher, 1st Base, 2nd Base, 3rd Base, Short Stop, Middle Infield, Corner Infield, 4 Outfielders, DH (any position eligible except pitcher). To qualify for a position, a player must have played at least 10 games the previous year at that position. Rookies have to be projected at that position. The owners will vote on questionable qualifications. Your pitching staff shall consist of 6 starters (no saves will be counted for players in the SP roster slots) and 2 Closers (any relief pitcher qualifies but no stats from games started will be counted for players in this roster slot).
Draft:
The draft for this league will be
an auction. Each owner shall receive a set amount of bidding dollars to spend on
players ($300). A name shall be drawn to determine who shall pick the first
player to bid on. The owner who successfully buys that player earns the right to
pick the next player. Every player brought to bid must be placed on a roster.
Owners must always have at least $1 for every open spot on their roster. The
commissioner will keep track of everyone’s spending.
Keepers: This will be a keeper league, but since it’s an auction league, there are special rules governing
players being kept the following year.
1. A kept player’s salary will automatically increase by $5 dollars after the first year and $10 each year for the next 2 years. No player may be held out of the draft pool for more than 4 consecutive seasons.
2. An owner may keep a maximum of 4 players with no minimum.
Trades:
Trades between owners can take place at any time before or after the regular MLB season and at the All-Star Break. All trades must allow both rosters to conform to the original position requirements if done prior to the season. At the All-Star Break, free-agents can be used to make rosters conform to requirements. An owner may move players around on the roster as long as all required positions are filled in the end. Owners will receive the 2nd half stats only for those players acquired in a trade. The other owners in the league can contest a trade. If a trade is contested, a vote will be taken. A majority of the remaining owners must vote against the trade to invalidate the transaction. Players obtained in trade and kept will be subject to the standard keeper rules.
Free Agents: Owners may pick up a maximum of two players at the All-Star Break. During the
Break, owners may submit a cash bid on as many players as they want, listed in highest priority down to lowest priority (minimum $3 bid) and will indicate how many players they want to pick up and which player they would like to replace for each free-agent to maintain roster requirements. All money will be added to the prize pot. The bids will be called in or emailed to the commissioner and are final once received. The owner who submits the highest bid on a player gets the player. If an owner is out-bid on their first choice, the next player on their list is looked at and is compared to any other bids submitted. An owner will receive that player’s stats for the second half of the year only. Also, free-agents may be kept the following year at a salary of $10. The commissioner shall submit his bids in an email to 2 owners prior to the All-Star break with the understanding they won’t be read until after the All-Star Break.
Stats:
The commissioner shall be responsible for maintaining the league stats and rosters. Our league will be on Yahoo and stats will be available to all owners. Standings on Yahoo will be close to but may not reflect actual standings due to the special scoring methods used in this league. All owners must provide phone # and/or an email address to the commissioner. If an owner does not provide a team name by draft day, the commissioner will make one up for you. Other stats, standings, and information will also be posted on http://www.geocities.com/sf9ersfania/irl_home.html.
