Babylon Bangkok is gay paradise!

Imagine yourself sleeping under the covers for ten nights with a rosy-cheeked, Prince William type - and not being able to touch him! That was my experience staying with a friend in Bangkok recently. Fortunately, the city has a wonderful answer to such frustrations - Babylon Bangkok.

Some buddies had recommended this bathhouse to me, and were they ever right!. Image an architecturally magnificent, super friendly men's club - quite the opposite of Berkeley's Steamworks. With loads of casual indoor/ outdoor settings to stroll in just a towel, it is easy to spend the whole day/ evening at Babylon. The lush outdoor pool with beverage service, the dramatic restaurants with varied, excellent but inexpensive menu items, the well-equipped gym, the saunas, grotto pool - not to mention the free "relaxation" rooms for two all over the place - make Babylon probably the best bathhouse on earth. Imagine all this for only $6, with no extra for access to private rooms! Even my straight 24yo German friend in Bangkok wished there were a similar place for him to enjoy. I urged him to try Babylon, but to no avail.

In addition to it's dramatic spaces, Babylon benefits from the very friendly attitude of the Thais, who comprise about half the guests. They seem to enjoy the rotating stock of Westerners of all ages, and their friendly attitude transmits to others. I enjoyed several times a 35yo muscular Singaporean who works in Melbourne, a handsome Arab from Dubai, a beefy Minnesota farmer and a Ken from Tam Junction in Mill Valley! But the eye-candy, very friendly Thais were popular staples in the darker grope areas and "relaxation" rooms.

So let me add my hearty recommendation on Babylon Bangkok for any gay headed to Asia - or to those looking for a great place to play. Now if only the Steamworks would get the message!
