Mission and Service
A box for canned goods and other foodstuffs in the entryway constantly reminds the congregation of our Christian commitment to charity and service. Church members in difficulty find themselves with unexpected and unsolicited aid from other members, brought with a caring smile. The congregation participates in or supports the Naugatuck Valley Project, Area Congregations Together and its Spooner House homeless shelter, Interfaith Volunteer Caregivers of the Lower Naugatuck Valley, Habitat for Humanity, and other local service organizations. A scholarship program assists young members with their college education. Special projects arise from time to time, and the members pitch in energetically.
Through its gifts and through the participation of its delegates, the church supports the work of the United Church of Christ in the Connecticut Conference and throughout the world. The church has a special relationship with UCC missionaries Tod and Ana Gobledale, who serve in Zimbabwe helping new churches to form and grow
