Now the days of David drew near that he should die, and he charged Solomon his son, saying: "I go the way of all the earth; be strong, therefore, and prove yourself a man.  And keep the charge of the LORD your God: to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commandments, His judgments, and His testimonies." 1 Kings 2:1-3a

Prove Yourself a Man

     Prove yourself a man;
     keep the LORD's charge, and stand
     humble on this earth
     mindful of your new birth.

     Prove yourself a man;
     keep the LORD's charge, and stand
     up, leading family and friends
     to their Savior from sin.

     Prove yourself a man;
     keep the LORD's charge, and stand
     out in your place of work
     giving glory to the LORD.

     Prove yourself a man;
     keep the LORD's charge, and stand
     fast in His word
     guarding the truth of the LORD.

     Prove yourself a man;
     keep the LORD's charge, and stand
     righteous in the judgment
     clinging to Christ's atonement.

          Prepare Me for My Wife

  My heart is on a platter
  waiting to be devoured,
  but I feel it's being served unripe.
  Lord, please prepare it for my wife.

  I cannot ignore these desires
  of mine to become a father,
  but I feel they're coming too quick.
  Lord, please keep them in check.

  My feet are rushing me from girl to girl
  hoping to find my one in this world,
  but I feel them stumble and fail.
  Lord, please slow them down on my spouse's trail.

  My life is flashing before my eyes
  as I seek out my own paradise,
  but I feel it slow when I hear Your Word.
  Lord, please shape my will to conform to Yours.
