The Storm
Lightning flashes. Thunder crashes. Wind howls. Rain pounds the deck.
The mast breaks. The heavens quake As the sail Falls to sea.
The confused vessel Strays forth, until It splinters Off shore.
The lone crewman, Used and abused, then Washes Up on land.
To some, This story Might seem A tragedy,
But the best part Is that the refuge land Is you And the crewman Is my heart.

One
One life to live have I to give the One who gave this life to me the One who gave His life for me the One who caused this life to be One Word so fair have I to share with one who can not see with one who is not free with one who lives for "me"
One love to grow have I to show the one who takes the one who fakes the one who hates all men
One chance to take have I to make this love, this life renown while one in sin nears death Lord, help me speak Your Word right now and with my every breath Amen.

In Romans !2:1 we are encouraged to present ourselves as living sacrifices to God. We are to do all things to the glory of God and to the glory of His name with the hope that by our words and actions we are able to spread God's Word to others and help in the expansion of His Kingdom. A great patriot said, "I regret that I have but one life to give for my country." We too have only one life on this earth, therefore we should use it wisely. All of these thoughts were going through my head when I wrote this poem. It is at times, however, very difficult to speak up and spread God's wonderful Word because we have this filthy, sinful flesh. This is why I end the poem with a prayer asking God to give me the strength to spread His wonderful Gospel to those in spiritual need. |

This and my leaf poem are two new types of poems that I am experimenting with. I am attempting to write them with surprise endings. The storm in this poem is the number of attempted and failed relationships that one usually goes through in life. The storm may also refer to a constant looking for prospective spouses, until finally the heart lands on the one which God intends the person to marry. |
