Thanksgiving
What is the true meaning of Thanksgiving? Have you ever asked yourself?
For it is easy to be thankful when your belly is full, and you are warm in your home.
But what if you lived in a box and had no food, no shoes, and no socks? I suppose then you could give thanks for life.
Well, what if you spent this holiday in the hospital, barely breathing, for you are terminally ill? Could you still give thanks?
I tell you, "Yes" because you still have the gift that is best: the blood of Christ which washes away all sin.
Thanksgiving means more than this years harvest. It means thanking God for eternal rest through faith in His Son.
Yes, Thanksgiving is thanking God for His grace and mercy... Or, at least, it should be.

Fade
Enshrouded in this world I live, I walk in a light that creates shade. I am reminded of the promise You have made: You will come and take us to a place Where the light does not fade.
This promise was made at the time of the fall. This promise You have made to all, But only those who, by Your strength, Believe that Your Son all our debt has paid Will He bring home to Him Where the light does not fade.
As our mansions You prepare And the wedding feast is made, You give us strength to bear And Your love does not fade.
As the world creeps in around us Like the shadows on the wall And the prince of darkness Instigates our fall, A lighted path before our feet is made, And the Word fuels this lamp, And this fuel cannot fade.
All flesh is as grass And fades away. But the Word of God Stays the same every day. And while the grass is whithered and frayed The Christian soul does not fade.
As our mansions You prepare And the wedding feast is made, You give us strength to bear And Your love does not fade.
And Your love does not fade. And Your love does not fade.

It is so hard to remember to give thanks to God always, no matter what the conditions are which He, in His wisdom, has put us in. We always have Christ in our lives. This is enough to make us eternally grateful to God for His grace and mercy. |

This poem is one of many that I wrote as songs for my friend who is in a band. It is my hope that some day it will be put to music. |
