| How does it work? | ||||
| The first step prior to any custom order is to decide whether or not custom ordering is right for you. There are several things to keep in mind when making this decision. First, it would be a mistake to confuse "Custom-made" with "homemade." I strive for the highest level of garment construction and while I try to keep my costs down, sometimes a custom garment will be more expensive than something you will buy off the rack. The person who spends the extra money on a custom garment is someone who is looking for an item to meet their specifications, someone who is hard to fit, and someone who is looking for an awesome and fun experience!! Once you have made the decision to order a custom made item, the first step will be to contact me and discuss your specific needs. I always try to accomodate any request. However, I never take on more work than I can handle and I never agree to do something that I don't feel I can do to the highest of standards. Once we have agreed to work together we will set up a time to meet and conduct an initial fitting. At this point, you would be responsible for all materials needed to complete your item. The materials needed include: Pattern, fabric- including muslin, and all notions (zipper, buttons, etc.). There are several places to buy these materials, including Joann Fabrics, Hancock Fabrics and the internet. I am more than happy to give as much advice as needed in picking your fabric. I am also available to meet at a fabric store, which would be billed at $15 an hour. For wedding dresses, I will initially make a muslin (inexpensive fabric) mock-up of your dress. This mock-up will help me to ensure the best fitting for your dress. After the muslin is ready, there will be one final fitting of the actual dress. All other garments will only require one fitting. If you are in the Austin area, all fittings and pick-up will be at my house in Round Rock. If you are in the Waco area, I can meet you at your house for all fittings and delivery of garments. Please see the Pricing Guidelines for any questions on pricing. Ready to get started? Send me an email! |
