Columbian Red-Tailed Boa

Velvet is still fairly small. She is growing slowly and is in good health.

 Such a pretty snake.

This is our newest baby, Velvet. We purchased her from an Oregon breeder at the Reptile and Exotic Pet Expo on 10/17/02. Her birthday is in August so she isn't very old.
Velvet felt the need to strech herself a bit. This picture shows the beautiful deep red markings on her tail. This coloration is what gives the Columbians their name.

One of her favorite places to be is in a bush. When this bush is in her cage the branches hang over the water. She can watch the room and her surroundings from her hiding spot.
Another good picture of Velvet all stretched out. I love the look of her dark markings. The diamond pattern along her side has small white marks in the center. This camouflage enables Columbians to hide in the leaves of the jungle or blend with the bark of some trees.
