Gray atheism 'n bloody religion
Fifth period we were learning about Jerusalem, all part of the Middle East unit we're doing now. I noticed this earlier, that it was ironic that Christianity, which was born FROM Judaism (sorry if that's spelled wrong...I'm an atheist...so there) was ultimately responsible for the deaths of MILLIONS of Jews, meaning the Nazis. Hitler was Christian, and fairly religious from what I've heard. Not only this, but Christianity has been used a number of times to slaughter other people and enforce their religion. It's been the excuse for COUNTLESS wars. It IS the excuse for countless wars. This I noticed. But today, I learned that Jerusalem has been destroyed many many times and rebuild many many times, and it is thought to have a DIRECT connection with God. Seems like humans fucked up big time. This connection was the sight of the Roman massacre. The streets RAN RED with blood. Need I say more? Well, yes, because there's more to say. In fact, the holiest site in Jerusalem is a wall that is PART OF A DESTROYED TEMPLE. The temple was said to house the essence of God and...poof. Bam. There's a wall, everyone go there and stuff it full of wishes to God. What IS wrong with us? Religion gives people something to believe in, but, look at it! It says RIGHT THERE in all the holy scripture things "Don't kill people!" And guess what? People are killing eachother over what it means! Gah! Holy sites are demolished or covered with blood or both! I think if Jesus popped down for a visit right now, he'd be dead in less than a week. I really don't think much of religion. I do believe in some sort of God-ish thing, but I believe that all this Bible and Psalm stuff is just some Mr. Rogers telling everyone to be nice to one another and ending up SO misunderstood. Sorry if I offended anyone there. It's what I think. Well, I'm done. Ciao.
