Time Rant
Time 'n Reality rant

Since I did absolutely nothing today, I decided just to put the things I thought while staring at the dark spot on my ceiling. Consider time. Was the concept of time created by humans? I don't believe so, since there was day and night even before the species we evolved from were a twinkle in the eye of a bunch of apes. While the concept was not created by humans, the measure of it was. Now consider the torture we go through day to day because of time. School, work, what have you. Interestingly enough, we are slaves to this time measuring system, the thing that WE created. No other animal has been so stupid as to do a thing like that. We made our chains, our bonds, and we fixed them on ourselves and tossed away the keys. Everyone worries about being late to work, how long they'll live, what time they'll get home, whether or not they missed their favorite shows, and all these worries we pushed on ourselves. We constructed our suffering. Depressing, no? Kind of like soap opreas. Why do people watch them? Don't they have enough trouble and pain in their lives without having to see those phony tradgedies? I remember one line from that movie (which is more a religion than a movie) the Matrix that put it pretty well. "Human beings define their realities through misery and suffering." I'm not sure if that's completely true, but it seems like it. In all these video games they try and absorb the player by showing some suffering and troubles, giving it a more realistic feel to it. Yet, they never show the hardships that are in reality, so that's what differenciates it from truth. Characters in stories are made more "real" by the suffering they go through, yet there is something missing from their suffering, which keeps them from being real. What would happen if all problems in live just *poof* disappeared? It would be strange, wrong...unreal. So maybe its our misery that keeps the world from seeming to be without substance. Take the story of Adam and Eve. They lived in paradise, no problems, no pain, no nothin'. But, perhaps the true reason for their disobeying God was because of how fake it felt. Well, I think that's all I can squeeze from my insanely depressive thoughts, g'night.
