By: Ben (Okay, I haven't the slightest what possessed me here. Something evil, no doubt. This is very very disturbing...but I like it for some reason. Probably because I am myself. Mua ha ha ha. Enjoy.) "Another fine morning, isn't it, Madame Richards?" Said Robert Declour. He was always an early riser. Some speculated he didn't even sleep. That was ridiculous, though, they all needed sleep, even if they all didn't do much. "Surely, Mr. Declour." Answered Madame Richards, her dark eyes gleaming dully as they stared off at no where in particular. "Mornin' folks! Hell of a day for tea, eh?" Jack Lieshon had been awoken by the conversation. His south-tinted speech made all present think to smile. "No doubt, Jack." Edith Rescaler announced her waking with the words. "It looks fresh today." She commented idly. "It's good to see we're all awake together. I usually am alone when I wake up, it's quite boring to survive without conversation." Robert's french accent seemed to put each syllable to use and gave the words a smoother texture. The foil for Robert answered. "Sure is, Bob." Replied Jack. The Madame spoke once again, her timid English voice coming out of her fragile pale frame, a thought of a blush in her head. The paleness didn't exactly define her, it was the same color as the rest of those at the table, but it was her unique beauty that kept her apart. She was young and fairly new to the club. "Ah, well, not everyone is awake, I'm afraid we've forgotten Phillip." "Oh, he always sleeps late." Edith's aristocratic accent spelled out her distaste for the man spoken of perfectly. "You're wrong, there, Edith." A shuddering, somewhat dark voice came from the end of the table. It held a note of surpressed terror, and showed fully the anger the peeping terror caused. "I don't sleep. Declour sleeps now, he used to not be able to. I sit alone nights." He muttered accusingly. Declour repressed his anger politely. "I did not sleep for a few years simply because I was nervous about my entry into this club, I will admit to that. I do not see why you are not settled yet, I settled about your time." "Defeated, not settled." Growled Phillip. "Aw, come on, now, folks, let's not get all bent outta shape here." Jack pleaded with the two feuding men. Phillip's sharp tounge snapped to Jack. "You're one of the oldest here, pray tell us how long it took YOU to be defeat-" He was cut short. "YOU are simply upset because you can't handle being in our club!" Roared Declour. "Club!? Are you all fools?! What INSANITY is this!?" Phillips answered sharply. "That is enough!!" Yelled Edith, her voice shaking with anger. "Phillip! There is nothing you can do about what we have here! Are you simply planning to growl and scowl and spit all the time?! We have a long time together, everyone, I say we try and become friends!" Phillips paused at this. He sighed heavily, thinking to cry lightly, as a man would. "I just...I just can't...forget." "Sure as hell betta learn to." Jack stated solemnly. "Maybe...in time." Phillips chuckled darkly. "I'll lose my mind in time. I'll be able to survive if I lose my mind." The sound of a rusty door echoed across the field and to their table. "Another member! Good! Good!" Exclaimed the once-silent Madame Richards, thinking to clap her hands in joy. Footsteps slid over the valley of green, heading to the table. "Ah, fantastic!" Cheered Declour. The woman stopped beside the table, but caught no look from the members. Their eyes were gleaming and turned away, their heads were propped in their proper position. The woman smiled at the members of the table. "Another...friend...more friends." The woman studdered slowly, but surely, knowing what she was to say, but not knowing exactly what they meant. Her eyes were somewhat glossy in the same way, but they flicked closed after a few seconds, blinking in a most improper way. Besides, her eyes were pale and had white to them, her skin had pink to it. Blood coursed through her veins. She didn't fit in. Smiling, she pulled out a chair from the table and deposited a pale, blond teenager, dressed in a somewhat formal maid's outfit. Around her eyes, the blood had already caked, sealing in even better the black ball eyes, that glimmered in the afternoon sun. She still held a tan to her skin. That would be the first thing to fade. The woman smiled at the group and skipped off, back to her house. The teenager's mouth was twisted in an odd "O" of horror, and the scars from scratch marks showed on her flawless skin, shaven and coated with a glossy polymer. Even the thumb prints about her thin neck were easily covered by the gloss. She was like all the others. Soon, her skin would pale, then her golden locks would fall from her scalp as decay set in. "Hello, miss." Edith cooed softly, in a small effort to calm the little girl's soul. It would try to escape. They all had. But, eventually, it all settled. "Welcome to the tea party." <~~Back to Stories |
