Rey, photograph of the shrine of hazrat-e abd ol-azim, a ninth-century AD descendant of imam Hassan who was killed and buried in rey. It is still a popular pilgrimage site. A number of inscriptions in the complex date to the 14th century. Throughout the ages the building has been added to and decorated. This was the place where in 1896, after friday prayers, Nasser ud-Din shah, king of Iran, was assassinted.
