| Welcome to the homepage of Coy. E, 77th PVI, the Bell Guards. The 77th participated in every campaign of the Army of the Ohio and the Army of the Cumberland from the Battle of Shiloh in April 1862 to the Battle of Nashville in December 1864. They fought under Generals Don Carlos Buell, William S. Rosecrans (Old Rosy), and George H.Thomas (Pap). In 1865 the 77th found themselves in Victoria, Texas. Their presence was intended to discourage the French from coming up from Mexico and causing trouble. Having sucessfully discouraged the French, they were mustered out at Philadelphia in December of that year. We are always looking for new recruits in Oklahoma and elsewhere. If you want to know more about the 77th, or are interested in joining, follow the 77th PVI link. If you would like to know how we operate, or see equipment is needed to participate, please follow the link to our by-laws below. |
