After surviving almost two years of being ravaged by the pandemic, nobody saw this coming.

It looked as though the entire wrestling business was starting to build what might have been a prosperous future post 'covid'.

Something worth watching.

Something worth telling your children about.

During it all, we were just starting to get a glimpse of what the Varsity Blondes were capable of. AEW was their stage. We were all captivated by their youth, improving charisma and abilities inside the squared circle.

And just like that. Just as we were yearning for more, it was all taken away from us.

In the blink of an eye, the wrestling landscape as we knew it collapsed. Even the strongest folded like accordions, no match for the almighty 'covid'.

Now, we fast forward.

January 1st, 2022. A new year. A new chapter for this business that we have all grown to love. Another chance for it to grip us tight. Reel us in with all that makes it so intoxicating.

Another chance for the Varsity Blondes to ascend to the top.

It's right there for the taking.

Static.

We open up with Josh Matthews conducting a zoom interview with one of the most recent signings to the WLCW women's roster, Julia Hart.

JOSH MATTHEWS: Ladies and gentlemen, I'm pleased to be joined by one-third of the Varsity Blondes... Two time national cheerleading champion, Julia Hart!

Being still relatively new to the business, one would expect a shy start to this interview.

JULIA HART: Thanks!! Very excited for everyone to get the opportunity to see us again. We're something special.

JOSH MATTHEWS: First of all, welcome to WLCW! We're all taking a big leap of faith here.

JULIA HART: We are, but you know what? I'm excited!

JOSH MATTHEWS: As am I. It's my understanding that Griff and Brian will be arriving sometime next week?

She casually smiles and nods.

JULIA HART: Yeah, but we're focused on me right now... okay?

JOSH MATTHEWS: Right, my apologies. After all that's transpired in the past year, what makes you confident you will find success in WLCW?

JULIA HART: Other than my sheer talent alone? The fact that I'm part of the most exciting thing going in wrestling. Isn't that enough?

JOSH MATTHEWS: Quite the confident woman you've become.... in such a short time. What do you attribute that to?

JULIA HART: Have you not been paying attention to your own words, Josh? I'm a two time cheerleading champion! TWO TIME! Wherever I go, success follows me.

She smiles big and sticks 2 fingers up into the camera that is attached to her laptop. For all the mentions of her being new in the business, we quickly begin to see a very confident demeanor start to ooze out of her.

JULIA HART: That's why there is nothing we can't accomplish in World League Championship Wrestling. And it all starts with..... ME!!

She swipes her finger across her chest.

JULIA HART: This is another golden opportunity for me. And the sad thing for the rest of the women's division? When things get competitive, I ALWAYS rise to the top! I ALWAYS find a way to prevail! And that's just the facts, Joshua. Plus.... As you mentioned, I've got THE very best tag-team in wrestling by my side.

JOSH MATTHEWS: Um.. very best? I'm not sure I said that.

JULIA HART: Yeah, but you were thinking it. I'm just saying it for you.

JOSH MATTHEWS: Maybe one of the best up and coming tag teams.. Doesn't that sound a bit better?

JULIA HART: No, not really. Not at all.

Awkward moment of silence.

JOSH MATTHEWS: Anyways.

JULIA HART: Exactly! Anyways, do you have anything positive to contribute here? Or did you just schedule this little interview to waste my time?

His expression tells the story here. He was not expecting this interview to head south so quickly. But as the case with Matthews, his always professional side prevails as he clears his throat..

JOSH MATTHEWS: Earlier today we got the official announcement for the first ever World League Championship Wrestling (WLCW) event, Vengeance on January 12th.

Knowing all about it, she nods her head.

JULIA HART: Yeah, soooooo exciting!

JOSH MATTHEWS: Early reactions to having to team up with Momo Watanabe?

JULIA HART: Not thrilled. I mean, what else do you want me to say?

JOSH MATTHEWS: She was very well respected in Stardom. Hearing a lot of good things about her.

JULIA HART: Who cares? We're talking about the now. And I'm just not sure the two of us are meant to tag together.

She's a bit flustered at this point, beginning to show her youth and inexperience just a bit.

JULIA HART: Not to mention... you know, the language barrier. That counts for something, right? I mean, come on! How am I supposed to communicate? Sign language?

She makes some made up signs with her hands, shrugging her shoulders at Matthews.

JOSH MATTHEWS: I believe she speaks English too, Julia.

JULIA HART:
Whatever, does it really matter? Regardless, I don't want to team with her.

JOSH MATTHEWS: You're taking on Jamie Hayter and Hikari Noa. It would be in your best interest to work together with Momo.

She rolls her eyes, not happy at all with that suggestion.

JULIA HART: Ughh... Serious?

JOSH MATTHEWS: That's how tag teams work.

JULIA HART: Lame.

JOSH MATTHEWS: Before I let you go.

She places her index finger on her lips.

JULIA HART: SHHHH! Shut up, Josh. I don't need a motivational speaker.

JOSH MATTHEWS: ....

She cuts him off with a sense of urgency.

JULIA HART: This conversation is over.

Palm to the camera.

Static.

This is evidence that Julia Hart is looking to continue building on the foundation Brian, Griff and herself have started in AEW.  Combine all their experience together and you can count the years on one hand. But, that doesn't mean that they aren't capable of something beyond your imagination.

It's also proof that she is looking to be way more than just their valet. That's just not how things are going to work.  She's looking to steal the show.

All of the Blondes are confident they will put the entire wrestling world on notice.

Sure, there will be doubters.

That's ok.

Doubt can fuel an unbelievable fire. It's really an amazing thing.

Let's just hope they can put out the fire.

A few hours later....

We find Julia in the same hotel room, this time on a zoom call with both Brian and Griff.

JULIA HART: These people are disgusting. Don't let them get close to me, Brian. I don't want the COVID AIDS!

BRIAN PILLMAN JR: Don't be an idiot, Julia. COVID and AIDS are completely separate hoaxes!

GRIFF GARRISON: Dude, do you even think before you speak?

BRIAN PILLMAN JR: Of course I do! We can't be afraid! Griff, don't be afraid!

GRIFF GARRISON: Whatever.

JULIA HART: I'm afraid!

She pauses.

JULIA HART: Josh Matthews already tried his best impression of a motivational speaker. Freaked me out!

Both the guys start laughing.

GRIFF GARRISON: Josh was trying to make a move.

BRIAN PILLMAN JR: Poor dude, did you let him down easy?

JULIA HART: Serious, guys! It's not funny.

GRIFF GARRISON: Julia and Josh......

JULIA HART: GRRRR!!!!

BRIAN PILLMAN JR: Now, if you had said it was Pat McAfee... You'd be in luck. I feel like punching him in the face!

GRIFF GARRISON: Yeah, I'd pay to see that.

BRIAN PILLMAN JR: Don't waste your money. I'd be like Tyson in his prime. 30 seconds. Maximum.

A loud clearing of her throat gets their attention.

JULIA HART: I got a question. Why is it that you guys get to take the first week off and I'm stuck tagging with Momo Wannabe?

GRIFF GARRISON: We're proven.

BRIAN PILLMAN JR: Yeah, we've got that cred.

Smack! The sound of them high fiving echoes on Hart's phone.

JULIA HART: Screw you!

BRIAN PILLMAN JR: Hey, relax Julia! Whoever your teammate is, you're going to do just fine. We didn't recruit you if we weren't confident in what you could do inside the ring. This is your first chance to show the world you've overcome all the injuries that derailed 2021 for you. We both know you're going to kill it.

GRIFF GARRISON: He's right, you and Momo are going to get the Blondes off to a winning start. Maybe it's not the ideal situation, but you'll overcome. Jamie Hayter and Hikari Noa don't exactly scream tough competition either. So, you've got that going for you.

JULIA HART: I still hate you guys.

GRIFF GARRISON: Come on, you can't hate us!

BRIAN PILLMAN JR: We're a team. A damn good team at that.

JULIA HART: Me here by myself right now and tagging with someone other than you two doesn't seem like much of a team to me.

She definitely has a valid point. They've got some work to do.

BRIAN PILLMAN JR: We overcame two years of 'covid', Julia!

GRIFF GARRISON: Do you have to always go there?

JULIA HART: It's okay, he's right. If I want to take THE next step in my career, I'm going to have to handle the adversity of every situation that is presented. This is just the first challenge for me. I know I've got this.

BRIAN PILLMAN JR: Good, that's what I like to hear. We always come out on top.

GRIFF GARRISON: We always do, don't we?

A puzzling look on her face as she ponders.

JULIA HART: Yeah, I guess so...... I guess the only thing I don't get.. Does it really take another week to get here? It's not like your that far away. What are you guys really up to?

A short pause as the two of them (apparently in the same room but connected to the zoom call separately) discuss something.

BRIAN PILLMAN JR: We're still trying to track down the last of the AEW phonies! Get that final paycheck! I got bills to pay.

GRIFF GARRISON: Don't we all, man?

JULIA HART: That's a big yes here.

BRIAN PILLMAN JR: Well then just do me a favor, ok? Trust us.

He ends his portion of the zoom call.

GRIFF GARRISON: He's right. As much as you probably hate to admit it. See you soon, Julia.

The last thing she sees is Griff smiling.

We are left with a puzzled look on the face of Julia. She sits there for a few minutes in complete silence, staring straight ahead almost past the camera. Whatever she is thinking about, it's got her complete focus.

Suddenly... She cracks a big smile.

JULIA HART: I've got this.

Static......

Darkness.

We're outside.

The camera pans out slowly as we get a breathtaking shot of The Gateway Arch.

The sight of the first ever event in World League Championship Wrestling history.
