Grandmaster Lin Jingshan Chinese Version 中文版
Qixing Tanglang Quan grandmaster Lin Jingshan was born on 1885 in Laiyang,
Shandong and
died in 1971 at the age of 86. Grandmaster Lin was the student of the third
generation Qixing Tanglang Quan Master Fan Xudong. Grandmaster Lin was very
fond of martial art and at the age of fourteen he moved to Yantai to find a
job, he was introduced by Laiyang Townmate Association chairman Mr. Gai to
work in Yung Chang Cereal Store located at the South Road. Fan Xudong's boxing
school was at Ku Yi Street, very near grandmaster Lin's place of
employment. During his free time, he would secretly watch Fan Xudong teach and
would later practice the techniques he saw by himself. One day Fan spotted
grandmaster Lin secretly watching him and asked him why he is spying on him,
after learning of his intention, Fan asked him to show him what he have learned,
amazed by grandmaster Lin's movement and execution of the forms, Fan accepted
him as his student, that year was 1902, which began grandmaster Lin's martial
art career. Fan who emphasized on basic fundamentals, was strict with
grandmaster Lin, but grandmaster Lin was likewise an ideal student that strived
to be the best, and in a short span of time, he have improved tremendously.
Having small body frame, grandmaster Lin developed his speed and footwork to
compensate for his shortcomings. He would later became at par in sparring with
his much bigger fellow classmates like Luo Guangyu and Yang Weixin.
Grandmaster Lin taught at Tianjin from 1911-1915, but later returned to Yantai
to teach at Fan Xudong's boxing school. Grandmaster Lin became Fan's third
indoor disciple. Grandmaster Lin was proficient in Iron Palm, Luohan Gong,
Sword, Six Combination Cudgel, Plum Flower Spear, and Spring Autumn Long Handled
Broadsword.
Among grandmaster Lin's student
were Hu Yongfu, Shao Huating, Wang Chunshan, Li Baota, Mou Zhaunzu, Jing
Fangzhi, Yu Tiantang, Yu Tiancheng, Yu Tianlu, Lin Chunsheng, Yu Zhenhai,
Ling Huatang, Wang Zhuanlan, grandmaster Zhong Lianbao and others. During the ten
years of revolution, grandmaster Lin returned to his hometown in Laiyang and
taught there until his death in 1971.
