When did it become OK for a man or group of men to compromise themselves to fit into a popular crowd? Is it for the illusion of more public respect from the masses, most of which are posing in any case, or is it so they simply do not have to think for themselves any longer?
Make a mistake and 10 others will back them up simply because they wear some delusional cloak of 'popularity', 'honour' and 'strength'. They all seem to forget, a fuck up is a fuck up and to be free you must be responsible, for your triumphs and your failures. Yes, strangely the free do make mistakes, but be sure not to tell anyone, wouldnt want to upset their shepherds now would you, might make life hell for the poor fellows and they will be evicted from the popular sect. Bummer!
They all seem to have short memories too, the online serve for example has become almost extinct in some rooms nowadays. And do not, under any circumstances visit rooms that are not Gorean, because that will make you less real also, another reason for instant eviction from the popular sect!

The Shepherds
The shepherds are the new leaders of online Gor. Fierce, venomous beasts, they curl their lap dogs around their fingers subtly, pulling their strings just out of sight to keep them in line, but not too publicly to tarnish the false vision of strength. They lash out with their forked tongues and flowing robes, correcting a dropped capital here, a leg spread just too widely there, bickering and moaning like children with each other, all while the 'Masters' watch on, sometimes throwing in a whine or babble here and there about no one keeping the slaves in line, but never actually doing anything about it for fear of upsetting the shepherds even more and bringing their wrath upon themselves.
After all, anger the shepherd and they wont play with you in pm anymore, and since the real slaves arent interested in your new, soft, compromised self.. who else is left to play with? I mean after all, you are probably married and your wife isnt interested in your lazy unemployed arse either. Thats OK though, you are part of the popular sect thus it is alright to sneak around behind your spouses back and play with women half your age in pm, promising to be a good master just as long as your missus doesnt find out, at which stage you will suddenly disappear from online after being threatened with divorce (who would feed you then?) and whispers will begin to spread about some unfortunate accident which claimed your heroic life.

But thats OK too, because the robed shepherds will keep Gor going and continue to run it as per their will since the men have chosen to abandon leadership in favour of being part of the herd. They will do anything to keep the shepherds happy.
Forget about the past, when the robed ones where not permitted in every single room, when they held their tongues when told to regardless if they liked the man or not. That is not what is popular now, you will be exiled if you think like men!
I hear you ask, where are the slaves in all this?

You remember the slaves right? Those strong intelligent women who used to put their heart into pleasing strong men, be that at his boots in conversation, to serving an ale or dancing.. they even used to be able to show their sexual nature in the open, before those rascally new shepherds put a stop to it. It offends their delicate senses you see. The slaves are few and far between now, oh you get the ones linked to the popular sect of course, can't be a master without a slave apparently.. but in essence, the slave has gone on to greener pastures, and stronger men.. not prudish men who deny their true sexual nature, not men who hide in private to save face, not shadows of men who will drop everything to please just in case the slave leaves.
