Durango

There's nothing like a little picnic to break up a long
car drive. Kevin was telling me that it takes a couple hours to go
around the island of Oahu,,, I think 90- 100 miles. In Colorado you're
lucky if that gets you to Alamosa. Remember the sushi and musubi's
we made the night before? They make a great lunchtime treat!
Dad said we were going too fast for him on the way to Durango.
I told him you can't help it if you are trying to keep up with the Unser's
(Uncle Bob) and the Petty's (Karen).
Going over Wolf Creek Pass was rather exciting dodging falling rocks
and torrential rains. Posted along the road were warning pictures
warning motorists of Chamaman. A severe drought in the upper mountains
had forced the sheep (Chamaman's favorite food) down the mountain.
The signs warned that a odor of the latrine car of a train preceded
the Chamaman where ever he went.
Melanie was fascinated by this cowboy we saw at Denny's. On our way
to Durango , she saw some cowboys wrangling up some cows. This
guy was nice enough to sit and have his picture taken with Melanie
Benita and Melanie enjoy some ice cream in Downtown Durango.
Melanie likes to bite the bottom of the cone first and make a mess for
mommy to clean up.
Ah Joel's the place where everybody started to loosen up.
Was nice to see the guys get together and get to know each other all over
again. It wasn't a great bar...but I think it started a new tradition....
Guys Night Out!

Upper left....Melanie having a bad hair day after getting up in the
morning.
Upper right....Karen showing Melanie a indian... she saw the cowboys..now
it was time to see the indian.
Middle.....a vacation without dominos? no way... Karen and
Benita have great poker faces. I don't think Uncle Bill has ever
won at dominos.
Bottom right.....Melanie had no problem getting her male cousins
to play with her. She grabs their hand and says "come on!"
Bottom left..... Here are three Big eaters. A pizza party
in the hotel room. They enjoyed it!
