Quatre's Sisters

Part Six: The Plan

Quatre had quickly gotten changed out of his horrific outfit, first thing when he went inside. Then he persuaded Duo to steal back the photo of himself from Mia’s purse. The sole heir of the Winner inheritance had a reputation to consider.

“So, which one’s Mia?” Duo asked, peeking through the living room door. All of Quatre’s sisters were gathered around the television, none other than watching T.V.

“You see, the one with the dark hair…,” Quatre pointed out over his shoulder.

“Quatre. They all have dark hair.”

“Oh, right. Sorry.” Quatre looked again. “She has a lot of rings on her fingers.”

Duo looked. There were about ten other girls who matched that description. “Anything else?” Duo sighed.

“Um…blue eyes.”

Duo targeted her. She was sitting on the edge of the couch, her purse tucked in between her feet. “Gotcha,” Duo said, and started waltzing over.

Quatre watched from the shadows for a second, then left to attend to his other business.

Duo casually walked over to the couch and sat down on the floor by Mia’s feet. He grinned smugly to himself. This was going to be a cinch. Rubbing his hands together, his fingers squirmed to the purse.

Just then, something funny came up on t.v. and all of Quatre’s sisters laughed. The purse was kicked a few metres down.

“Darn,” Duo muttered and began crawling over to the purse, careful not to get in the way. He slithered in between Quatre’s sisters’ feet, and of course he noticed that they were all beautiful legs. Heaven, Duo thought, his arm brushing against smooth skin. Even softer than Wufei’s silks.

He paused for a second, basking in this leggy paradise.

Amelia look down. That boy, Duo, was leaning on her feet, rubbing his cheek against her calves. “Ahem,” she said.

Duo looked up. All of Quatre’s sisters were staring at him. “Uh, hi,” he said weakly, giving one of his heart-melting grins.

Quatre’s sisters didn’t seem fazed. They faced that from Quatre all the time.

As one, “PERVERT!”

Uh, oh. All of a sudden, those beautiful legs were beginning to look like weapons. Quatre’s sisters began to kick with their high-heeled shoes.

Duo quickly rolled under the coffee table. Twenty-nine pairs of sharp heels left marks on the floor where Duo had been just seconds before.

“Help! My heel is stuck!” said twenty-nine voices at the same time.

Duo looked. Their heels were buried about an inch into the floor, caught fast into the plankings. Phew, Duo thought, then ran.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Quatre was in Wufei’s room, carefully folding down the twenty-nine vests and shirts that his sisters gave him. Wufei was standing behind Quatre, supervising him and making sure that he did nothing suspicious. Quatre’s suitcase lay in shreds on the floor where Wufei had previously ripped it open before they went shopping.
A piece of paper fluttered on the silky wall, beside the door. On it was Wufei’s rules. He had added another one when he came back.
Rule #6: Anybody who even so much as breathes on my shrine will face the wrath of a TRILLION slashes from the sword of justice! After first facing a billion slashes from the sword of justice!
Quatre thought it was silly. Like Duo thought just hours before: Why did Wufei always make such a big deal out of everything related to him? His hands shook as he refolded his fifth shirt, Wufei watching his every move.
Wufei gave him a little kick when his sleeve accidentally brushed the silk hangings on the wall. Quatre shuffled himself a little ways to the left, then continued folding. He glanced to the corner of the bedroom where Wufei’s sword was hung. He gulped. He wondered if Duo got that photo yet.
Just then, Duo came running in. He slammed the door behind him, then leaned against it, face red and huffing and puffing. Quatre looked at Duo’s hands. They were empty.
“Help…help…,” Duo panted, locking the door.
“What is the meaning of this?” Wufei demanded, walking over.
Quatre stood up, carefully tucked his clothes into a safe corner, then asked, “The photo?”
Duo shook his head. “Ditch the photo, Raberba! Your sisters, they---,”
A loud bang came from the other side of the door. Duo was flung to the floor as the door bent inwards, then held. But not for long.
Everyone watched in horror as a spiked heel stabbed through the door. The heel moved around for a second. From the other side of the door, Quatre heard a muffled voice say, “Quick! Help me pull it out!” and then the heel was slowly yet carefully released. Quatre sighed in relief.
Three spiked heels simultaneously stabbed through the door. Quatre jumped and backed away, staying a safe distance from the danger. He followed Duo’s example and hid behind Wufei’s bed.
“Hey, Wu-wu, get back here! You don’t know what they’re capable of!” Duo called. Wufei ignored him and continued standing stiffly in front of his punctured door. His fists were knotted together. Uh, oh.
“MY DOOR!!!” he cried, then leaped over his bed. Duo and Quatre ducked but Wufei flew past them. He was going for his sword.
Why do I have deja vu? Quatre asked himself as Wufei grabbed it down and started storming towards Duo.
“YOU ARE THE ONE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL OF THIS! JUSTICE!” Then swung the sword down. Duo quickly jumped away and Wufei accidentally sliced down a few of his silk hangings. “Noooooo!” he screamed and got even angrier.
“Noooooo!” Quatre cried. Once again, he plowed into Wufei’s chest and they both fell on the bed. “Run, Duo!”
Duo was already gone. The curtains blew forlornly by the breeze blowing through the open window. Oh, great, Quatre thought. Now, what was he to do?
Quatre’s sisters broke through the door, blowing it into splinters. “Where’s that boy? Where’s that bo---,”
All they saw was Wufei lying on the bed with Quatre lying on top of him. Again.
“Quatre, you bad boy! We’re taking you shopping with us!”
“Nooooooo!” Quatre cried and flew out the window.
Wufei started to get up but Quatre’s sisters were in the way.
“Oh, you poor boy!” they cried at him together.
Wufei was getting deja vu.
Then, “Noooooooo!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Duo hung for awhile on the window sill, then carefully let go. He landed lightly in the bushes below. Now, what to do? he asked himself, scratching his head.

Just then, Quatre flew out the window. Duo could see a shadow hovering over him, growing bigger and bigger. By the time he realized what it was, Quatre had already landed on his head and knocked him to the ground.

“Geez, you have such a big butt for a guy so young,” Duo said frustratingly, rubbing his temple.

“I’m sorry,” Quatre said, then looked up. Good, his sisters seemed to be occupied for the moment. He helped Duo up, then said, “We have to get out of here.”

“Yeah, but where?” Duo asked. “This is our house, after all.”

“Right,” Quatre answered. He thought for a moment, scratching his head and looking for all the world like Duo just a few moments before.

Duo, getting impatient with him, began walking around the mansion. When he got to a window, he peeked in.

It was the den. He could see Heero and Trowa sitting by the television set, playing video-games. “Hey,” Duo whispered, waving through the window.

Heero and Trowa continued playing the video-game, completely oblivious to Duo outside. Duo was jumping around, looking like a maniac.

When they continued to ignore him, Duo went so far as to knock on the window.

Trowa looked up for a minute, turning his head from side to side. His gaze landed on the window for a second before he looked down and continued playing the video-game.

“No…,” Duo groaned. Trowa’s own bangs had blocked his own vision.

Quatre rustled through the bushes toward Duo, crawling on his hands and knees, pulling himself by his elbows and looking like a soldier going through war.

“You don’t have to do that,” Duo told him, looking embarrassed.

“Oh.” Quatre laughed sheepishly and stood up beside Duo, brushing leaves off his clothes. “Now, what to do next?”

Duo did a double-take. Quatre was asking him what to do? That meant the situation was serious.

Duo’s stomach growled loudly and he smacked it, trying to quiet it down. Quatre laughed quietly at him. It was time for dinner. “I’m hungry,” Duo said.

“I know,” Quatre chuckled. Duo swished him on the head and they crawled around the side of the house towards another window. They looked in.

Quatre’s sisters were preparing dinner in the kitchen. From what they could see already piled on the table, it was going to be a veritable feast. Duo licked his lips. Quatre wasn’t sure if he did it because he was hungry or because he saw all of his sisters.

Quatre’s sisters were almost done. They brought the rest of the food over to the dining table. Duo and Quatre crawled to another window to look.

They were staring at a mountain of food. Both Duo and Quatre’s stomachs growled at the same time and they both reached down to smack them, then continued watching.

Quatre’s sisters appeared to be waiting on someone. They tried to look but the mountain of food was in the way. They waited, growing hungrier by the minute.

Finally, a chunk was shaved off the top of the pile so they could see who lay behind it. They gasped.

Wufei was sitting on a divan, munching forcefully on a bunch of grapes. Quatre’s sisters flocked around him and gave him one item of food after another. Wufei shrugged. He didn’t care that they were women. He was being waited on and that was all that mattered.

Duo grinded his teeth in jealousy. Wufei, hearing that slight noise, looked up. His sharp eyes instantly spotted them by the windowsill. Wufei frowned, then his mouth slowly curled up into a smile. He smirked, then, stretching languorously, arranged himself more comfortably on the divan. Taking up a large hunk of roast beef, he chewed savagely on it, juice trickling down his chin and looking at the window the entire time.

Duo cried, raising his fists above his head in rage. Quatre quickly pulled him back down when Quatre’s sisters turned towards the window.

“That Wufei! He’s going to pay!”

“Yes,” Quatre hushed, trying to keep him quiet. The angrier Duo got, the louder his stomach growled and Duo got angry at his stomach for giving in so easily but then it only growled louder at his anger. He was stuck in a permanent loop.

Quatre dragged him a ways from the window. They went and stood under the apple tree on the front yard, shivering together. It was dark outside and it was steadily growing colder by the minute. Quatre sneezed.

“That’s it! I’m going inside,” Duo said and started walking to the front door.

“Wait!” Quatre grabbed his sleeve. “This is madness!” Quatre was even more afraid of his sisters than Duo was. “We have a better chance of surviving out here,” he whispered fervently and gestured around the lawn. Only the chirping of crickets answered him.

Duo gave him a look of disbelief, then shrugged him off and stormed towards the door. He pressed the doorbell. “Whoops!” he cried but it was too late. Duo and Quatre quickly ducked down, hid in the bushes beside the steps and waited.

The door slowly opened. From the light shining through the doorway, they could see a person’s shadow splayed on the front steps. Quatre instantly recognized the shape of Trowa’s hair.

Trowa looked around the front porch for a second. Seeing no one, he shrugged and began to close the door.

“Wait!” Duo whispered frantically and grabbed the door frame. Trowa, seeing the mysterious hand grabbing the door, shivered and kicked it away.

He heard a familiar cry of pain. “Duo?” he asked cautiously into the darkness.

Duo jumped out from the bushes, face twisted in rage. Anyone else would have flinched in surprise but it was Trowa so he just stood there. “What are you doing out in the bushes?” he asked emotionlessly.

This comment only seemed to make Duo more angry. Grabbing the door, he slammed it open and Trowa calmly stepped back to let him pass. Quatre followed behind.

“I thought you would be more grown up than that,” Trowa said to Quatre as he walked past. Quatre answered him by sneezing. Trowa brought him to the fireplace to warm up while Duo ran to the fridge first thing. Rubbing his palms together gleefully, he opened it.

It was empty. “What?!”

“Oh, Wufei ate them all,” said Trowa by the fire.

Wufei had eaten everything. EVERYTHING. The refrigerator hummed quietly to itself, happily freezing up a tiny packet of margarine.

“That…!” Duo was about to call Wufei a fatso but, then again, Wufei never got fat. Duo growled, whipped out the margarine and started eating it, scooping it up with his pinky.

“Hey, save some for me,” Quatre whined.

Duo, barely eating enough to fit under his fingernail, flipped the packet over to Quatre and Quatre ate the margarine slowly, wanting to savour every last, mini-bite.

“What are you doing up so late anyway?” Duo asked Trowa curiously.

Trowa looked at Quatre eating the margarine and said, “I was going to get a midnight snack.” Quatre, mid-nibble, looked up guiltily and offered Trowa the pathetic amount of margarine but Trowa shook his head. Quatre, looking first at Trowa, then at Duo, started quietly licking off the container.

“What were you doing outside, anyway?” Trowa asked.

Duo and Quatre told him, each blowing up the story many times until they made Wufei look like the Devil and Quatre’s sisters the Devil’s servants. When they were done, Trowa nodded like he didn’t really care, then got up and started walking up the stairs.

“By the way,” he added over his shoulder, “Dragon-Boy isn’t mad at you anymore.”

“What?!” said Quatre.

“Why didn’t you tell us earlier?” Duo cried, stomach growling.

“You didn’t ask,” said Trowa and continued walking to Wufei’s room.

When he was gone, Duo cried, “Has the whole world gone mad?” and grabbed his hair in frustration.

Only his growling stomach answered him.
