| Currently, this will be a page of links to other craft site websites. As ideas and/or pictures of local crafts are sent in then changes will be made. I can only hope this happens sooner than later, but until then... |

For anything more than a few ounces at a time (or planned family heirlooms :-) it is more economical to use colorfast dyes. Kool aid dyeing: http://www.thepiper.com/fiberart/koolaid/ Dyeing with coffee and tea: http://www.thepiper.com/fiberart/plantdyes/ Dyeing Protein Fibers with Kool-Aid, Easter egg Dyes and Food Colors http://www.cyberfibermall.com/lollipops/dye.htm A list of tutorials and patterns, including one on microwave dyeing: http://www.hjsstudio.com/tutorials.html The cyber fiber mall (not dyeing, but fiber shops): http://www.handspinning.com/ Origami: http://www.h5.dion.ne.jp/~origami Swaps: http://www.swapaholic.info/swaps.html Cute peanut swap: Hold the peanut unshelled vertically and glue batting on for hair. Glue eyes on, draw a mouth, nose, and glue construction paper feet on the bottom. Then draw streaks for the hair with colored marker. (Note: Watch out for girls with peanut allergies!!!) Many ideas for swaps at: http://www.makingfriends.com/swaps.htm Pictures of GS Cookie boxes (completely scanned) to create mini boxes for swaps, pins, etc. : (The only catch: They are those from "Little Bakers Co.", not "ABC Bakery", but many are same: http://scoutingweb.com/scoutingweb/SubPages/CookieSwaps1.htm and here: http://scoutingweb.com/scoutingweb/SubPages/CookieSwaps2.htm Rooster Swaps (from a rooster lover... and no - not the webmaster of this site!) Might want to use foam instead of paper: http://ejmtph.crosswinds.net/sew/roosterornament.html Beads: http://familycrafts.about.com/library/projects/blsprooster.htm http://www.h5.dion.ne.jp/~origami/e/rooster.html http://members.aol.com/davidpetty/mom11.htm (very simple) Maybe you could paint a cork and glue the parts on for a 3d effect: http://www.free-printables.com/animals/roosterfingerpuppet.shtml Make from the triangular cosmetic sponges: glue google eyes on the sides, a small red feather for the tail, and a bit of fun foam for a beak. Swimming Swap Ideas: How about a swim cap or fins made out of fun foam? Or paint the inside of, say a film canister, or snapple lid, blue to make a pool? Maybe add fun foam toys or life ring glued inside. Skunk Swap Ideas: Here is directions (no picture) for a skunk made from a walnut shell: http://www.craftown.com/kids/kc30.htm . Pony Bead pattern for a skunk: http://www.dltk-kids.com/t/animals/bskunk.htm . Just an idea: Take a clothespin and label it "Skunk Protection Device" and clip a fake nose (pink/brown felt?) inside. |
