Halle
Despised by the Shanla because of their claim on
magic, the Halle are the mortal sorcerers, described in ancient legend
as the gifted children of Ner. Despite the insinuated connection
between them, and the similarities in their stories, the Halle grew to
develope their own culture, wishing no contact with the Shanla, whom
they refer to commonly as Dreamwalkers. But inspite of their efforts,
many of their legends intersect with those woven by the Shanla.
As an example lies the Dessra
Netu, called also the Book of Fire, sheltered by the Halle for many
centuries as a gift from Dessra herself, sheltered mainly from the
Shanla, which she vowed would never possess it. In Shanla myth, the
Book of Fire is rightfully theirs by heritage since they claim Dessra
was a Shanla. However, the Halle have never surrendered it, and the
Shanla are yet to be able to claim it as theirs by force. Also, in
ancient times, the Halle adopted the sacred grounds of the failed
Shanla council as their own, and so was born Setterwind, marked by the
symbol of Ashan's rose, its legend enduring until this day among Halle
stories. The Halle once strived to remain together, cultivating their
traditions and history, but they were frequently hunted down, and their
last real community, established in Setterwind, was wipped out almost a
thousand years ago.
Halle abilities may be unnoticeable, or
evolve gradually into a greater strength, but never beyond the
abilities of a Shanla. As with Shari and Ratell, they may be brought
through the veil, even though they share no heritage of Shanla.
In the eyes of the seer stone, they are
represented by different shades of blue, either displaying simply one
homogeneous shade of that color, or by a mixture of various shades.
