Who?

Me. I'm Seth.

Here I am, in very high contrast, because
I am hideous and covered with scars that
only the magic of Photoshop can erase.

Why?

I am, and always have been, underweight.
While I enjoy being able to fit into small
crevices and Volkswagens, this condition
puts me at risk. I am tired of living my life
in fear of gusts of wind and predatory birds.

Where'd you get 13 pounds from?

This body fat index calculator. At 5' 7"
and 117 lbs., I have an index of 18.3 or
so. That is like if a 6' 3" person weighed
147 lbs., or if someone one hundred feet
tall weighed 37,400 lbs. Who says online
dietary calculators aren't fun? If I gain
13 pounds without also growing several
more inches, I'll reach an even 130.
This would place me at a body fat index
of just over 20. Then I can be barely
adequate! Yes, it's a rich life I lead.

How much is 13 lbs., really?

Well, I doubt you really thought that at all,
but I'm a very visual person. I needed
some way to understand how much food this
would be. I decided to find out. I mean,
I can throw a bowling ball, and they're
often more than that, so it couldn't be much.


As it turns out, thirteen lbs. is much. Too
much. Well, for one meal anyway. In retro-
spect, I suppose that hoping to mend all
my woes in the course of one goliath meal
was rather short-sighted of me. In any case,
I made sure the foods being weighed reflected a balanced diet:
