Set Free by Jesus Church, Inc. ("SET FREE") is a Missionary ministry to the Inner-City children of Birmingham, AL., founded by Pastor Charlie & Dr. Durinda Warren, in 1994. Our main focus is Evangelism (to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the "utmost parts of the earth") and to help Inner-City kids in B'ham to find hope of a better life, success, and Joy in Jesus! Inner-city kids are sometimes overlooked by big city churches in their efforts to reach the lost. This is because sometimes they don't always act right, look right, dress right, talk right, etc. to fit in at some churches. The Lord is using Set Free to fill that spiritual gap with Inner-City kids in B'ham. (Set Free Urban Ministry Center, Inc. is a subsidiary ministry of Set Free)

We have been ministering here since 1994 and in our current location since 2000. We are located at 700 3rd. Ave. No., just 3 blocks west of I-65, in the west end of B'ham. Our Set Free Worship services are held on Sundays at 11am and Tuesday nights at 5:30pm. We drive church vans through the Federal Housing Projects & surrounding areas, picking up whoever wants to come & hear about Jesus.

The Pastors

Pastor Charlie & Dr. Durinda Warren are the Founders & Sr. Pastors of Set Free-Birmingham. They felt led by the Lord in 1994 to come here & begin this ministry to Inner-City Kids. They moved their family here from Anaheim Hills, CA., where they had Pastored Set Free-Anaheim Hills, a church ministry which reached out especially to people who were hurting and/or had led abusive lives in the past, and to those whom God accepts just as they are. Pastor Charlie says, "Everyone is welcome, just as you are, at SetFree-B'ham. Since most of our church is Inner-City Kids, ages 6-18, we always need more Christian adults to serve as role models, ministers, teachers, workers, and prayer warriors. Our vision is to teach these kids how to rise above their circumstances & live victorious, overcoming lives ... thru a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ." Praise God, it's working!
