My Third Medical Technology Page

Where I Am Now

My next position was working as the Lead Technologist in a blood bank lab in a midwestern city. Max, LJ and I packed our stuff (well, I packed and they came with me) and moved in December 2000 to the Great White North, where it is EXTREMELY cold during the winter, but they seem to like it a lot. Talk about life changes!

I even wrote a poem for our monthly newsletter:
Drop Drop, Spin Spin,
"O"h what a relief it is,
Are you an "A",
Or even a "B",
We're "AB"solutely "POSITIVE"
You won't find any "NEGATIVEs"
In this "GROUP" of fantastic techs!

Well, in 2002 I started working in a smaller hospital lab. There was a lot less pressure and I renewed my expertise in hematology and chemistry, and I was also able to learn new things and techniques. Then, one year later, I transferred to the "big house," our system's main lab. I worked there for three years; we went automated in the chemistry department and quite a few people were bummed out by that. I left the hospital just before Christmas in 2006, and have decided to leave the field of Medical Technology. As of February 2007, I have been accepted into the Veterinary Technology program at a local college. This is a sixteen month program beginning in March, and I will be able to sit for the certification exam when I graduate in June 2008.
