Life Notes
Insurmountable Love

He will love us, no matter what we do. No matter how much of our lives we give to Him, He still loves us. But He wants us to give our lives to Him because thats the only way He can change us. He wants us to allow change in our lives, but we should change, not for our benefit but for the benefit of others. We should bless others and praise God. We should make ourselves humble. We should realize just how undeserving we are of His love, and that He still loves us. Even when people spit on His face, Jesus was ready to forgive them. Even when we trample His name, He is still there with us. He will always love us whether we want Him to or not. The question is, do we appreciate His love? All the while, when men are angry at God, they are really trying to cover up their insecurities, their misgivings, and their failures. We should be thankful, we should be humble, and we should be ready to serve.

The Gift

I am not deserving, in the least, but it was still enough for Christ. He loved me enough to die for me. Jesus never sinned, He did not deserve to die, but He still saw value in me. He died that I might live. After three days in the grave, He rose again, to prove He is who He said He was.

Life is Precious

Imagine that you are standing at the edge of a cliff. You can see no way to get to the other side. It is urgent. The rock you are standing on could come loose at any moment. How do you get across? God loves you and has provided a way, a board for you to walk on. It is no use to have a board at your disposal, if you are not willing to use it. Because of pride, you want to find your way across. Only the board God offers is strong enough to hold you. If you find your way to get across, you will not make it. You do not have much time to decide.

Life is like a jigsaw puzzle, with a piece missing. You cannot go without the missing piece. You try using other things to fill the hole, but only the piece that was meant for that hole can fill it and complete the puzzle.

If, after Christs death on the cross, everyone was automatically accepted into heaven, why are we still here? Maybe those alive at the time of the resurrection would be alive but for what purpose would God allow us to be born? Why would we be here if there is no reason? Maybe we are here simply to learn, but we will learn infinitely more in heaven. Maybe we cannot be born anywhere but earth, but God created Adam and Eve without parents why would things be any different now? I feel we are here to learn humility. To prove we are humble we must confess to God that we are sinners and need forgiveness.

How can we be forgiven if we do not declare we are a possession of Christ? How can we be allowed free entry (one of those children get in free deals), if we do not have a parent (parent required) to lead us?

Faith is riding a bicycle up a hill (without brakes). You must keep pedaling or you will roll back down to where you were before. The higher up you go on the hill the harder it is to pedal (because of gravity).

The Holy Spirit is a gift from God. We must accept His gift. God wants us to have free will, so He does not force His gift upon us. We must accept it.

God never changes. Why do we try to change Him? His laws are for those who are not in Christ. If you are not in Christ, dont these laws still apply? And if you are not in Christ and you break His laws, arent you at fault for your actions? Would a God that never changes change His plan? Would He adjust His laws so that they better apply to society? Would He make them more lenient?

Hearts of Stone

When we harden our hearts, it becomes harder for our hearts to be moved. Our hearts become heavy like stone. We do not react to things in quite the same way. We become insensitive, cold like stone. We are dead. What happens when you throw a stone? It plummets. If we die with hardened hearts, our hearts will weight us down. We will not be able to rise up. With Christ our hearts are softened, renewed. They are like feathers. When the breeze blows, they are easily moved. And when we die, we will take flight.

Our Lord

Who has had the single most important part in my life? He is always there for me, never leaving. He will always love me, no matter what I do. He will forgive me, if I let Him. His name is Jesus, my Lord and savior. My life would be nothing without Him in it. Though I have never seen His face, I know he is there. Whenever I am in a situation with no hope, He gives me hope. He shows me the right path, when it seems there is not one. He died that I may live.

Running Over

Our hearts are like cups. A broken cup cannot hold water. With each sin, we make another chip in the cup. A crack forms in the cup. With each sin, the crack becomes wider. The water is running from the cup. Without water, our hearts will harden. We try to fill the cup, but it all drains out. There is only one chance. If a new glass were made to replace the old cup, the new cup would hold water. We would no longer thirst. The moment we take a sip from the new cup, our lives will be changed, forever. The water we pour will not quench our thirst. Only the blood of Christ (the water of life) will quench our thirst.

The Stairway

My life is like a stairway. I must take it one step at a time. Many times, I take it two or even three at a time. I am in a hurry, a race for the finish line. I am not so worried about what happens in the middle so long as I reach the finish. God wants me to slow down. He wants me to have patience and take the steps one at a time. This is very difficult. Sometimes things seem as though they are moving at a snails pace, but if I try to speed things along I will suffer for it. I will stumble over my feet and go falling on my face. I must slow down and stay wary. I must have faith that no matter how slow things are, I will reach the end. I must keep going. The stairway is dark. I may turn and run. If I do I will only end up where I started from.

The Closed Door

We all have bad vision. Lenses may bring things into focus, but we still have bad vision. We cannot even see what is right in front of us without lenses. When we start wearing lenses, at first we love them, we can finally see. After a while we begin to lose this joy as we begin to see things that we never knew existed. We see problems where we once saw nothing. With all these frightening things surrounding you, you can hardly believe you have survived as long as you have. Perhaps it would work better to say: we are seeing the world with new eyes. Our eyes will not let us see the world around us. We need new eyes. Many people think God is not present in their lives. God is present but we do not see Him.

He is standing outside the door. Until we open the door, we will not be able to see Him. We cannot see through closed doors and His voice is only a whisper. All the time, we are putting more and more locks in the door. God just is not someone we want to deal with. But then after we do let Him in, we go running. We run to our bedroom and lock the door behind us. God is in the house, but you cannot see Him. Then you open the door and go running to another room and another. Its like a family after an argument; everyone is silent. You do not see them, you do not hear them, but you know they are there. Now that God is present in your house He is considered a family member, but as long as you hide behind closed doors you can never form a strong relationship with God. You have not cleaned your house. Rather you just shove the dirt and filth off into a corner or into a closet where it cannot be seen. In order for God to get rid of the dirt and filth He has to drag it out of its hiding spot. This causes a problem for us. We feel pain when we see all the dirt God pulls out of the closet, but once its disposed of we feel better. We no longer feel the need to clean it up. We need to make God feel welcome in our home.

God is light. When light shines in the dark spaces of our heart, we can see just how bad things are.
