I have a deep interest in
Wimmin's Spirituality.
I believe the world's
religions are missing out, and doing a great
disservice to women, by excluding women from roles of
leadership within the various hierarchies.
Religion vs. Spirituality
There is a vast difference
between religion and spirituality. Spirituality is very different. Spirituality seeks common
ground between individuals and groups.
Religion is a
system of beliefs crafted by humans, to explain God
as they percieve God to be.
Religion attempts to
regulate both the individual's and the collective
body's interaction with the Diety as well as
adherents' interactions with one
another.
It is
the Divine spark within a human heart, reaching out
for it's Creator.
Spirituality also reaches inward
for it's Higher Self.
It
promotes understanding and tolerance.
Rather than
causing rivalry and division, spirituality seeks to
uplift and encourage.
Women
In a patriarchal society,
one of the roles of religion is to enforce the status
quo, promoting the continued dominance of the ruling
male class.
For this reason, the struggle for the
recognition of women within all major religions has
been daunting.
Women have vast stores of spiritual
power. We understand the need for unity and
understanding in the world today. Women's
spirituality threatens the
ruling class and religion itself.
