DULCIE DU JOUR'S HOME PAGE

PROFILE

"Hello, My name is Dulcie Du Jour.
I'm 49 years old.
I've had a mastectomy,
A hysterectomy
and my varicose veins fixed!
And , yes , I am an .....
ALCOHOLIC DRAG QUEEN "

- Dulcie Du Jour, 1997.

Now thats's not a bad opening line!

I started drag performing in the early 1980's at "Dukes Bar" in Abbotsford, Melbourne , Australia and since those early days I have achieved quite a standing in the Melbourne Gay & Lesbian community.

My shows have been long running with over a 3 year season at the Xchange Hotel and currently 2 years at DT's Hotel in Richmond. I am well known for my quick wit and repartee with an audience. No one leaves a show without a laugh!

When armed with a microphone, I am, to use a nineties term, "awesome" and nothing is sacred. Political correctness is not my forte but it is funny. ( Pauline Hanson is the only woman in Australia who can get 5 years out of a lipstick tester).I have performed at a number of venues and functions. Everything from hens nights on the Yarra Riverboats, compering male strippers, a tertiary student function at the Maribynong Student village to a lady's 70th birthday in a pub lounge in the Western Suburbs!

I am proud of the amazing amount of community work I have done including fundraising auctions where I have shared the stage with Mr John Brumby ( Opposition Leader - Victoria) , Judith Durham, Denise Drysdale and Elspeth Ballantyne, just to mention a few. I am the host of the wonderful Midsumma Carnival Dog Show each year and have a long and happy association with The ALSO Foundation.

I have also been photographed, painted and sewn by wonderful artists including Kathryn Reeves, Dr John Storey [Gorgeous Little Scrubber], Richard Morrison and Paula Hyland. Some of these works are in the collections of the Victorian State Library and the National Gallery of Queensland as well as numerous private collections.

I have been requested to attend and open many functions including a recent ceramic exhibition at the Victorian Art Centre. I am always a popular figure at Opening Nights. I am also extremely proud of my Victorian AIDS Council community service award, my three Rainbow awards and a Drag Industry of Victoria award (DIVA). I have compered various charity balls , including my long running association with the Belles Ball and have been a guest speaker for numerous organisations. I have been interviewed by BENT -TV.

My photograph has appeared many times in the Gay media social pages, Fiona Hamiltons page in the Herald-Sun, Rolling Stone magazine and Australian Style. I am yet to appear in Australian Playboy or Black+Blue magazines, so if anyone out there from those illustrious publications need a buxom, red-head in sequins with stunning legs and a pout to die for, I am your girl!! Oh , and I have also been reported drinking at a Melbourne Night spot with Janet Holmes a Court!

I am currently appearing at DT's Hotel every saturday night. First Show 10:30pm. Second Show 11:45pm. And I am punctual - no dragtime at DT's - Bruce , the manager keeps us on our toes ! I am available for Weddings, Parties, Bar Mitzvah's, Anything. I can provide entertainment for a small get together to a complete show catering for one & all. Email me for enquiries or bookings.

" If you are going to drive,
Drive safely.
If you are going to f*ck,
F*ck the same way.....and Good Night!:
