INTRODUCTION:
I've had a lot of visitors since I first put up this page about
a year ago. Several people have written to tell me that they liked
it, to ask questions or to just say hello. I've also had a couple
of "professional" people contact me about my site. I
received an e-mail from a representative of the cable channel
TV Land. They're gonna start
running Charlie's Angels about the time that the big movie is
coming out. (What a coincidence.) To kick off the premiere of
the series on their channel they're putting together a documentary
about the fanatacism the show has spawned. They are particularly
looking for people who have taken their fanaticism to extremes.
(Yes. They are going to interview Jack
Condon.) If you happen to be this type of person you can send
me an e-mail and I'll be glad to forward it to the TV Land representative
that contacted me.
I also had one guy write me a while back who claimed to be the son of one of the two men credited with creating Charlie's Angel's- Ivan Goff and Ben Roberts. (He didn't state which man is allegedly his father though.) This guy was not happy that my history of the Angels did not mention Goff or Roberts or that my Angels info supports the "myth" that Kate Jackson came up with the most distinctive elements of the show (i.e. the faceless boss Charlie, the series' name, etc.). Just for the record, I'd like to say that the majority of my history of Charlie's Angels was drawn from what I call "fluff" magazine articles- stuff like People and Us. I'm sure that these are not always the most reliable news sources. However, there's a new book out on the Angels by the world's foremost fan of the show, Jack Condon (see link above), called Charlie's Angels Casebook. I just finished Mr. Condon's book and it seems to support the content of my site. Therefore, I'm not going to change it. I'll just state that I'm sure the only people who know for sure what happened behind the scenes were those who were actually there....and they probably all have differing opinions.
Something else that I'd like to mention regarding my site is that my "history" of Charlie's Angels primarily focuses on the origins of the show and why it became such a smashing success. At this time I do not give much attention to the series' demise or the actresses who later become Angels (i.e. Cheryl Ladd, Shelley Hack and Tanya Roberts). As I continue to build and edit I plan to give the end of the series and its legacy more attention. Please be patient with me. If you have a web site yourself I'm sure you know how difficult it can sometimes be to find the time keep it up! Thanks so much for your support!!!
