Welcome to the internet memorial site for Liza Monroe aka Larry W. Amstutz.

A Little About Liza

Liza Monroe was the alter-ego of Larry Amstutz, created from his love of gay icons Liza Minelli & Marylin Monroe. Liza was a very popular performer at the Wheeling Gay Nightclub "Tricks" formerly "The Third World," and was even once crowned, "Miss Tricks."

As Larry, he appeared in many Ohio Valley Theater productions. He was member of several theatre groups including; Wheeling's TownGate Theater, Capitol Music Hall Players, and Ohio University Belmont's Players. He sang live in many of those shows.

Just a few days before his death, Larry was performing "Ring Those Christmas Bells" at a local show. He was out of breath and pale as a ghost when he finished his performance. We joked "if she keeps ringing those bells like that. she'll be ringing them for Jesus." As stated, a few days later, while at work, caring for the elderly, Larry got sick.

Larry suffered an unexpected cardiac arrest that resulted in a coma from which he did not recover. The loss was a great shock to the Wheeling Gay Community. "There is a new star in the heavens and no longer on our stage."-Miss Connie Russo Larry's death is just a reminder that our time on this world is not forever. May this internet webpage serve as an eternal tribute to a wonderful person.
