ABOUT ME: My major interests and goals include communication and media. I plan to major in communications and get a minor in film studies. I have a strong background in English literature which I feel has prepared me for a career in communications. I have a special interest in world cultures and have studied mythology and Asian literature. My expertise in film studies is Asian cinema, which I hope to write a book about one day. My interest in film and film analysis go much deeper than just watching films. For over a year, from 2000 to 2001, I wrote for a local entertainment website, where I not only was the editor of the movie review section, but I reviewed almost all the movies, and also participated in the layout and web design of the site. On occasion, I would take an assignment to shoot photos for and/or review concerts. This was a fun job that allowed me the opportunity to gain experience as well as contacts in the field of media, in both music and movies, which I have a strong passion for. When I became editor of the film section of the web site, I made a point to include foreign films as well as mainstream films because I really wanted to encourage people to get out and watch a foreign film. There are so many cultures out there that are different than ours and it is a shame that many people are not exposed to those other worlds and/or have no interest in them. Along with film, my other passion and expertise is music and sound production. When I was taking classes at the Pacific Northwest College of Art, my strong classes were 16mm and video editing. That is where I developed a passion for sound production. I have a computer based sound production area in one room of my apartment where I do a lot of mixing with sound and have also on occasion produced demo songs for bands. I recently did a promo mix for a small record label in Utah, called A Different Drum. They produce many different dance type bands both in the US and also in Europe. I designed and mixed a promo mix featuring a roster of their bands that they have mass produced and have started sending out with mail orders and when the bands have concerts, the CDs with my mix are handed out there as well to further promote the other bands on the record label. The remix CDs I create and sell are more than just a way to make money, it is like a labor of love, as I am a big fan of every group or artist that I mix. I want to thank everyone for their continued support of my mixes, your patronage is helping to put me through school.

MUSIC: My favorite artists are: DJ Shadow, De/Vision, Wolfsheim, BT, Kenna, ATB, George Michael, Simply Red, Seal, Madonna, Radiohead, Cody Chesnutt, Annie Lennox, Robbie Williams, David Bowie, New Order, R.E.M., Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, Erasure, Cher, Enrique Iglesias, Eagle Eye Cherry, Peter Gabriel, and Ryuichi Sakamoto. One of my favorite CD's is Sakamoto's Discord CD which features his untitled symphony. There is a movement on it called "Salvation" which blows me away everytime I hear it. It puts me in just the right mood to sit and chill in front of my monitor for several hours at a time, or create just the right mood for painting.

MOVIES: I like all sorts of movies, especially ones that invoke a particular emotion. Movies that bring tears to my eyes (which is hard to do), usually end up being on my list of favorites, like the film Chunhyang. I have watched it several times. Everyone should see it at least once. It is easily one of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen.
As much as I like American films, my heart, my true passion lies with foreign films, mostly Hong Kong action films and Japanese horror or Tokyo Shock films like Battle Royale.

GUILTY PLEASURE: Another movie that I have seen repeatedly and have inflicted on everyone I know, including my family is Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I like the first one and the most recent one, Return of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The reason I like the last one so much was because it featured Leatherface in drag( Leatherface is the main evil guy, who is named that because he has a mask made out of human flesh that resembled dried leather). There is nothing more scary than an insane psychopath with a chainsaw except for one in drag! Seriously, if you haven't seen TCM, you should check it out. It's a classic, really.
