The RAINBOW FLAG was designed in San Francisco by Gilbert Baker and was affectionately called "New Glory" when it made its debut in San Francisco's Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered Freedom Day March.
The colours are RED for light, ORANGE for healing, YELLOW for sun, GREEN for serenity, BLUE for harmony and PURPLE for spirit. The flag represents the diversity of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgendered Community and the hope for unification encompassing that diversity.
