A poem for a Swan...

To give on this day of our love for each other
a gift of the presence of our most secret other.
To share what is precious in our hearts and our souls,
to give strength and compassion our noblest of goals.
A Swan in the making, who was considered but an ugly duck,
has proved to his friends that he indeed was in luck,
a beautiful swan who grew in grace
while she suffered the taunts of the whole human race.

With a heart that was pure and was want to feel,
found happiness, found love, in a dress and heels.
Her love knew few bounds, was given in innocence,
to another she felt might share her way and pence.
Though given to love, but cast with self doubt,
She has struggled to blend to a gender left out,
to feel what is natural to those not so chosen,
she gave of her soul, but could not keep posin',
She fights for her right to be seen as a lady,
amongst those who would convict her as being quite shady,
 to prove to the lot,
 that this matters not,
that she has much to contribute,
 to a world so destitute
 of the compassion she bears,
 and so freely shares.

 Love, Jamie A.© jamie a.
