Madonna and RAY OF LIGHT win 4 Grammy's
Only once before in Madonna's illustrious career had she won a Grammy, and that was only for "Best Long Form Video" for The Immacualate Collection. However, on February 24, 1999 Madonna won awards for BEST POP ALBUM and BEST ALBUM PACKAGE for the album, and BEST DANCE RECORDING and BEST SHORT FORM VIDEO for the song "Ray of Light"/
RAY OF LIGHT, Madonna's 13th album is by far one of her best, containing 13 all new tracks and a new voice and sound by the Etherial one. The Queen of Pop fresh off her stallar performance in EVITA and her classically trained vocals rips the tunes to shreds. The title track, "Ray of Light" rips, "Sky Fits Heaven" and "Candy Perfume Girl" rock, and "Nothing Really Matters" is pop music at its best. The Album itself has already out sold many of her 1990's albums and has been certified double Platinum here in the United States for sales of over 2 million and should get certified Triple Platinum in a few weeks. RAY OF LIGHT has also spawned 2 Top 5 singles here in the US so far: "Frozen" at # 2 and "Ray of Light" at # 5. Both have been certified Gold for sales of over 500, 000 copies. The single for "Ray of Light" debuted at # 5, her highest debut ever for a single!
