Bonjour... I am a 46-year old single white male born (1957) and bred in New Caledonia (South Pacific) and educated in New Caledonia and Sydney (Australia). Like everyone else born in New Caledonia (a French overseas country whose political status is still in evolution but is in association with France), I speak French and am a French citizen, but I have never lived in France. I currently live in Noumea, the capital city of New Caledonia (and the only city there).

What do I look like? Well, you can judge from the photos; I am 6' tall (1m83), with a solid build, bald, bearded and fairly hairy, with tattoos on my upper arms and one around my right ankle. Before you disapprove of tattoos or tell me they turn you on, let me explain that I'm not a big fan of tattoos per se, except mine all mean something to me.

About myself: I am a fairly quiet but friendly and a no-nonsense kind of person, with a sense of humour, a positive outlook on life and fairly diverse interests (as you can see in these pages). I don't smoke or take drugs and am a light social drinker. I am very tolerant and open-minded. However, I don't like dishonesty, cruelty, people with attitude problems, or those who lie to others and to themselves.
I'm single: The reason why I'm single is because I have not yet met the right person. I thought at some stage that I had met someone who would change that, but I was wrong. Finding a partner, however, is not my purpose in life, I'm quite comfortable being single and independent. But I will not say no to the right person if it happens and moving to another place is not completely out of the question if that's the case.

Why do I call myself Outrigger Bear?: Well i'm a fan of outrigger canoeing, or Polynesian canoeing. I do it for recreation nowadays and no longer compete. Sorry, I'm not a rigger and I do not work on a rig.Why a bear? Find out by following the link on the right.
I love travelling: I do it every chance I get. From visiting friends to travelling in style or to trekking (have trekked in Kashmir and Ladakh). I have been to many countries in the Pacific, Asia, Europe and America.
