Who we are:

MCC of the Spirit is the local congregation of the Univeral Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches, a Christian denomination with some 250 churches worldwide. Metropolitan Community Churches [MCCs] were created in 1968 as a way of providing an environment where homosexual Christians could freely worship God and grow in their spiritual journeys.

MCC created an environment where all people are accepted, affirmed, and celebrated because of who they are (children of God in infinite variety) and not in spite of an aspect of who they are (such as their sexual orientation).

MCC of the Spirit celebrates a diversity of approach within the unity of the Gospel of Christ. This diversity lends a richness to our worship.

Each newcomer will probably find parts of the service familiar and parts that offer new avenues for spirituality. We place a high emphasis on lay participation, singing, praising, lighting a candle of hope, prayer, teaching through the sermons, and weekly celebrating Holy Communion. Our service generally lasts and hour an a half with a fellowship time following.
