VIII. Ode to TVs, VCRs, and the Internet
the gods of the twentieth century

by Jeremy Wayne Couch

Oh, what idle time
is spent with you!
You have a stronger hold
than Elmer's school glue.

Your propaganda rays are
our minds steadily piercing.
Although we know we should,
there is no resisting.

As we sit silent,
struck dumb and blind,
our world moves in fast forward
and we can't press rewind.
