I have twenty-two years experience writing and maintaining computer programs in the areas of:

  • EXPERIENCE SUMMARY:

    1975-1979: Wrote, installed, and maintained programs used to process daily transactions for multiple banks (demand deposits, time deposits, commercial and installment loans). Promoted to Assistant Data Processing Officer the final year of my employment.

    1979-1980: Site programmer for petroleum services company. Resolved problems with financial systems transaction processing programs (fixed assets, accounts payable, and general ledger). Assisted departmental time-sharing users and taught seminars on TSO and ISPF.

    1980-1983: Converted software package for commercial bank from MVS to DOS/VSE and installed and maintained the system for 4 banks at a computer service bureau. Also supported systems used to process general ledger, accounts receivable, retail credit card billing and payroll for client companies.

    1983-1984: Converted retail gasoline credit card system from Burroughs COBOL to function under CICS and batch DOS/VSE.

    1984: Taught two 15 week courses of introductory computer programming (with BASIC language) at a commercial college.

    1984-1985: Worked on preliminary design and coding for inventory, purchasing and receiving system for a defense contractor.

    1985-1989: Wrote, installed, and maintained bid, requisition, and purchase order processing system for municipal government. I also supported other general ledger, budget, and finance related programs.

    1989-1992: Co-owned and managed retail bookstore. I designed and wrote the point-of-sale and inventory management system used for the store.

    1992-1995: Involved in several consulting projects including conversion of a locally designed system for managing convenience stores for use in Mexico (written in COBOL, the system was run on a combination of MS-DOS and UNIX microcomputers).

    1995-1997: While I worked to complete my undergraduate degree, I also did contract work for a petroleum exploration company.


    EDUCATION:

    1972-1975: Earned 95 hours, including significant computer science courses, at Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas.

    1995-1996: Completed BS/BA degree, with honors, through distance learning program at Regis University in Denver, Colorado.

    1996-1998: I have completed additional computer science courses with the intent of eventually pursuing a Masters degree in Software Engineering.
