This is the area we spent Easter weekend in. It's about 2 hours east of Göteborg and is quite beautiful.

Here's the cottage we stayed in. It is really quite nice and well equipped.

Here's some of the inside. It has nice knotty pine tongue and groove wood and 2 bedrooms too!

We did some light hiking not long after we arrived. The view of this small lake through the trees is typical of the surroundings.

I talked Brad into riding on the "teeter-totter" or "see-saw" in the park. I trapped him up in the air for this picture ;)

This diving platform is a great place to see the lake, but at this time of year...there was NO WAY I was going to make use of it!

Nothing like the water to make a relaxing picture of serenity.

Brad is posing for the camera. Almost right out of an Abercrombie & Fitch catalog!

Lake Hornborga was reclaimed to its original glory as a bird lake less than 20 years ago. Yearly, about 120,000 birds use this as a stop-off for their northern migration to Lapland.

You can see a few of the cranes roaming about and doing their mating dances. They are quite loud and it is amazing to see so many at once.

You can see that on this day, there are 9,900 cranes in the area at one time...more than I have ever seen in my entire life combined!

As you can see, because people don't have pickup trucks over here, they make campers for ANYTHING! This is a Ford Sierra with a camper designed to fit in the hatchback area.

In the town of Tidaholm, American cars are all over this time of year. There were literally dozens of old cars cruising around, generally full of teenagers celebrating the arrival of sunny spring weather.

This old mill along the small river is typical of the beauty of the old buildings in the area. Like most of Sweden, even the old places are in great shape.

Right around bedtime, it started to snow really hard on Easter eve. We were a bit concerned about getting out of there the next day, but it soon stopped.

We only ended up with a dusting, and it made for a petty morning when we pulled out and headed back to Göteborg in the sunshine!
