Cruise Vacation, Caribbean, 2007

We arrived in Miami after a long flight through paris from Göteborg. It was Superbowl weekend and it was crowded, but we really enjoyed walking the boardwalk in Miami beach after months of darkness in Sweden.

The Navigator of the Seas was our ship, and what a ship it was!. For reference, it is 7 times the gross tonage and holds 5 times the number of passengers than the Pacific Princess that was the ship in the "Love Boat".

Here I am watching the ship pull out of the dock in Miami and glide past the sister ship "Voyager of the Seas". We were headed on our way to Haiti, Jamaica, Grand Cayman and Cozumel.

Here's the view from the window of our cabin. We were not quite stowage, but we were some of the few without balcony rooms. The advantage was that Deck 2 was easy access to the formal dining room :)

Our first stop was Labadee. It is a Royal Caribbean owned island on the north shores of Haiti with beautiful beaches and forested mountains.

Tom, Lorrie, Brad and I did some parasailing in Labadee. It's a tandem ride, so Brad and I went up together. Sadly, we didn't take pictures while in the air for fear of dropping the camera!

It was our first time ever in a helicopter up and down 7 mile beach in Grand Cayman. Afterwards, all I could think about was "I gotta get me one of these!"

We did some awesome aerial maneuvers in the helicopter and got this great picture of the Navigator from the air. Pretty impressive isn't it?

This is why we went (partly anyway) on this cruise. Our great friends, Tom and Lorrie got married on the ship in the port of Jamaica.

Here's the happy couple right after signing their lives away! We took these pictures, and then everyone ran to Jamaica for some ziplining action...

This is Tom's brother and his fiance, Dotie. They were great company on the trip and we are sad we will miss their wedding in July.

Lorrie's Mom and her friend Betty joined us all for the trip. I assume it was to watch her daughter get married, but I bet the sunshine and food had something to do with it...

Brad and I spent some time just hanging around the ship. Sunday and Friday on the cruise were both "sea days" and sunshine, friends and food were the priorities!

The Promenade is in the center of the ship, and it is over 3 decks high and is a mini shopping mall with stores, lounges, bars and all. Even more impressive is that the ceiling of the Promenade is essentially the main pool deck above!

On the first "formal" night, we did some roaming around trying to look important by the dining room. Lobster, prime rib, cheesecake, you name it - they got it - and we ate it!

It is easier to look important with spiffy friends like them :) Here we all are near the entrance to that famous Dining Room. Our suits were a LOT tighter on the way out...

Right after the wedding, we all disembarked to Jamaica for one of the more adventurous shore excursions.

We hopped in a van and wound our way up to the top of the mountains in the jungle. Of course, some of the group just couldn't resist being "photogenic".

We all got suited up in safety gear. On the left is one of the very few pictures of Dan and Marlo due to someone's dislike of the camera... Wish us luck!

Brad is zipping along on one of the 9 zipline rides, with some of them straight down. I bet my Mom is getting hives just looking at this picture :)
