(Photo Journal)

The Florida AIDS Ride2 is a 275 mile bicycle ride from Orlando, FL to Miami FL. I had the priveledge to partake in the ride this year along with over 700 other riders.
Each rider was required to raise at least $1,500.00 that will be used by some very worthy AIDS organizations in Florida. The fund raising and the actual ride were not easy, but it was a wonderful experience that I will remember for a long time.
I would like to thank all those who supported me financially and otherwise to make this a worthwhile experience. Below are a few photos that were taken during the ride. I hope you enjoy them.

Note: This page may take a few minutes to load completely due to the photos. Thank you for your patience!

Morning starts early on the ride. Wake up at 5:00 and disasemble your tent. Breakfast is at 5:30, and it's on your bike at 6:30. You can leave anytime you want but you must be out by 8:30 - that's when camp closes.

You have to stop and enjoy the beauty of the country side. This photo doesn't quite show the light shining down through the clouds that made this such a beautiful stop. This is Jim who rode with me for a while.

Here is a small group of us riding through the city. We had some countryside riding, but a lot of it was in the city. Sometimes trafic was quite heavy. That's Tim with Jim and I. I don't know who the guy in front is.

Each night we set up camp like this one. This is only half the tents and the picture really doesn't show the great number of tents there were. I thought that camping was great, and somehow I managed to get a tent to myself!

They brought in 2 trucks like this with individual showers with hot water and the works! It was a little strange brushing your teeth and shaving in the great outdoors though.

Here are some friends of mine (Kenny-left and Mike-right) who were in the Crew. Their jobs were to show us the route and guide us through traffic. They were only 2 of over 200 Crew members that fed us, cheered us, moved us, and supported us.

Here are those crazy guys again, This time with another friend Gary who was also a rider. We were having a Kodak Moment!

They had great supportive signs like this posted at the campground and at the pitstops along the way. Really helped keep us all going.

This is me riding over a bridge in Palm Beach County. The guy who took this had photos like these waiting for us on the last day.

Safety Man! I volunteered to be a safety monitor on the ride. I just watched that people were wearing helmets, not riding too close to each other, and were using signals and warnings. We didn't have many problems.

WE MADE IT! They waited until we were all in (a few had to be picked up) and then we all rode to the closing ceremonies together. It was very emotional to know that you had accomplished such a ride and for a good cause.

Here is my favorite proud supporter - Jeff. He and Jeanne (our roomate) went down to Miami to watch us ride in and then take me home. I was very glad to see them and glad to be home - but I had a great time!
