The Origins of
Dullthud

In my youth I spent many pleaurable hours listening to radio adventure and mystery programs. In those programs, the sound effects were very important. One sound in particular which facinated me was that of an unconscious person or corpse falling to the floor. It was, in fact, sort of a dull thud.

In a short story I wrote in college, I described a body falling to the ground with a dull thud.

When the era of electronic chat rooms and bulletin boards rolled around, anonimity was the in thing, so I chose dullthud as it would reveal nothing about me other than possibly a strange sense of humor.

Now you know! (Probably more than you cared to.)
