Anaïs Nin was born in paris in 1903. Her diary began as a letter to
her composer-pianist father, who had abandoned his family. The publication
of her first volume brought her literary recognition.
Her writings are at once revealing and mysterious. She spares no aspect of
her secret life in her diaries and books, yet shares subtly, with womanly
insight and lyricism. She died of cancer in Los Angeles in 1977.
