Just Jump It
(Duo's pages)
We went to a jumper show in March, where
he did very well for his first show, although he was a little reckless!
It was fun though. In April we tried to go to another small show just for
practice, but he sprained his ankle. =( When he healed we started preparing
for his first event. Dressage was ok, considering that he had just completed
a "crash course" in eventing, and cross country was perfect. I was looking
forward to stadium, but he came up lame in the warmup. The vet came out
and blocked him, which means that he injected drugs into his leg to make
it feel better, systematically eliminating where it could be, until the
lameness went away and we knew what it was. It turned out to be his Carpal
Check Ligament, which runs vertically for a few inches just below his knee.
We injected hypodermin, commonly known as internal blister, which creates
scar tissue where it is injected and helps the injury heal faster. Now
we are slowly bringing him back into work, and seeing if this procedure
worked.
