Basil

BASIL

Basil has a very neat, dense growing habit with attractive, glossy, bright-green triangular leaves. They can also be clipped into neat hedges. Flowers are not an important feature. Plant outside in full sun when all danger of frost is past. Use leaves fresh, dried or frozen in vinegars, sauces, stews, salads, fish, shellfish, chicken, veal, lamb, tomatoes and potatoes. Dried leaves can be used as hair rinse. Harvest when the flower buds are about to blossom. Hang dry and store in air tight containers. Better flavor is retained if frozen or stored in oil or vinegar.
