LONDON CALLING The bulletin of London Class War August 1999 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Diary Dates Friday, 30th July - Drop the charges against Michal Patera! Although out on bail charges still remain against this Czech Anarchist. Join the demo at the Czech Embassy at 12pm-2pm Sunday, 1st August - London Class War Meeting. Usual place, etc. Tuesday, 3rd August - Hackney Solidarity Group Public Meeting. 6.30pm, The Old Fire Station, Leswin Rd, Stoke Newington. IT-NET who are supposed to be paying Housing Benefit on Jackney's behalf aren't. See 'Hackney IsN'T Working' below. Wednesday, 4th August - Queen Mum's Birthday. National outpouring of grief that the hag is still alive. Monday, 9th August - David Copeland, the alleged Brixton, Brick Lane and Soho nail bomber stands trial at the Old Bailey at 10am on three counts of murder and causing three explosions earlier this year. Can anyone remember the last time a major trial came to court so quickly? Sunday, 15th August - Smokey Bears Picnic, Southsea Common, Portsmouth. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ JFK Dead!!! July 18: John F Kennedy, Jr, is confirmed as dead. A Rear Admiral of the US Coast Guard goes on radio to confirm this sad fact. So, who was he? Do you care? Another dead rich person, so what? It seems that he'll get the same treatment as Diana, Mother of Harlots and Abominations of the Earth. A BBC correspondent said that if JFK Jr had been 'an ordinary citizen' then they wouldn't have bothered searching for him for so long after the plane went missing. Just like the dandiprat Dando some meaningless chinless wonder's death merits front-page news. Just like Dando, JFK, Jr, was only famous for being famous. Here's hoping that the arch-parasite Elizabeth Windsor (née Bowes- Lyon) follows suite swiftly. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Lunatics Have Taken Over The Asylum London, July 19: Anthony Blair's New Fascist government has issued a consultation document to introduce internment for members of society with 'untreatable' personality disorders. Under new legislation one may be detained without charge, crime or trial if one may be a menace to 'society' in the future. Such draconian laws are unknown in the rest of the 'civilized' world. William Hill have stopped taking bets on which wholly innocent sectors of society will be hit hardest by these new measures. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Way To Die... Masons are well known for their strange handshakes. What's less well known, though, is their bizarre oaths involve different ways of being slaughtered, depending on their rank, if they divulge masonic secrets. There are 33 (!) different degrees of freemasonry, and hence 33 different ways to top a mason. Our intrepid investigator has found out the first two ways that the handshake brigade do in their ex-mates. In part one of an occasional series, he details them for you. Entered Apprentice: The first degree of masonry, the penalty for giving away any secrets is to have one's tongue torn out by the roots, and one's body buried in the rough sands of the sea, a cable-tow's length from the shore, at low-water mark, where the tide ebbs and flows twice in twenty-four hours. God's banker, Calvi, was killed in this manner under Blackfriars bridge. Fellow Craft: The second degree of masonry, it's a bit more bloodthirsty than your entered apprentice. In fact, when you get this far, you'd suffer no lesser penalty than having your left breast torn open, your heart and vitals removed, thrown over your left shoulder, and - strangely - these are then to be taken to the valley of Jehosephat, 'there to become a prey to the wild beasts of the field, and vultures of the air'. Heh! The decadence of the ruling class... At this point our reporter made his excuses and left. There are more than 1,672 lodges in London. That's one for every 4,380 Londoners! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Have I Got Noose For You! We've long known that the Police Federation have campaigned for the return of flogging and hanging. Until recently, though, we were under the impression that this was for copkillers and rapists. However, one member of the filth seems to have taken this policy to extremes. On 13 July, it was reported that one Andrew Gibbs (35), of Rufford, Lancashire, a PC and dad of 2 had been found hanged wearing his wife's clothing... by his wife (!). The verdict was accidental death - surely justifiable suicide! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Reviews PACIFISM AS PATHOLOGY: REFLECTIONS ON THE ROLE OF ARMED STRUGGLE IN NORTH AMERICA WARD CHURCHILL WITH MIKE RYAN ARBEITER RING PUBLISHING, 2-91 ALBERT ST, WINNINPEG, MANITOBA, CANADA, R3B 1G5 Any Class Warriors who were down in the City of London on June 18, or at Hyde Park, will know about the pernicious influence of the tufty fluffy scum, soft cops who defend the filth. In this excellent, and short, book, Churchill shows that the tufties are wrong—as he notes, Pacifist praxis (or, more appropriately pseudopraxis), if followed to its logical conclusions, leaves its adherents with but two possible outcomes to their line of action: 1. To render themselves perpetually ineffectual (and consequently unthreatening) in the face of state power, in which case they will be likely to be largely ignored by the status quo and self-eliminating in terms of revolutionary potential; or, 2. To make themselves a clear and apparent danger to the state, in which case they are subject to physical elimination by the status quo and are self-eliminating in terms of revolutionary potential. Any moral case the tufties have got for themselves, and their lack of resistance when attacked by the filth, is destroyed by Churchill's shrewd arguments. By demonstrating that non-violence gets you nowhere (he uses the example of Jews going passively to the gas-chambers), Churchill builds up a solid and convincing case for what the IRA call TUAS—Tactilcal Use of the Armed Struggle. There are times when other tactics must be used, but any blanket ban on violence against the forces of the state must, he argues, necessarily lead to defeat. Although this slim book is about £8, it is well worth getting, to read, learn and inwardly digest. After reading it, you will want to have a full and frank discussion about the merits of pacifism with your local tufty! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ RIOT AGAINST THE ROYALS - THE MA'M VIDEO All the action against the parasites Windsor! At a mere £7, a must for all self-respecting royal-hating anarchists. See how many people hate the sponging scum and their corgis, and relive those magic (if sometimes rainy) moments of Windsor baiting! Buy it from us—requests to the usual address! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Prisoner's Justice Day 1999 Come To Milton Keynes! As mentioned in the last London Calling, in the south east events will focus on the Control Unit at HMP Woodhill, Milton Keynes. Conditions in this unit were recently described in that well known subversive rag The Economist as being something that "should embarras a civilised society." A demonstration is planned for Saturday 7th August at 1.30pm HMP Woodhill, Tattenhoe Street, Milton Keynes. Those travelling from London can meet up at 11am at Euston train station's concourse. Buses should then be taken from Milton Keynes Central station to the Safeway Superstore. On the 10th a phone and fax blockade is planned. Governor David Yeomans can be contacted at 01908 501 999. Those who have any photocopies of their bottom left over from the office christmas party are encouraged to fax them to Governor Yeomans on 01908 505 4517. Another man of note is John Gaynor who is responsible for moving prisoners into Woodhill Control Unit. Telephone him on 0171 217 6319 or alternatively send him a nice fax on 0171 217 6664. For further details drop a line to Prisoners Justice Day c/o London ABC, 27 Old Gloucester Street, London, WC1N 3XX. A photocopy of the Economist article (which appeared on May 15th 1999) is available as part of the Class War Prisoners newsletter available for an SAE from London CW. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The 6th Annual Smokey Bear's Picnic Southsea Common, Portsmouth Unfortunately our diary dates correspondent seems to have got on the weird gear a few weeks early, as the wrong date was given in the last London Calling! The Picnic is definately at 2pm on Sunday 15th August and as the saying goes take what you expect to find! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Hackney Is'Nt Working Over the past month sources as diverse as Panorama and the Hackney Gazette have examined the rise of house prices in the Hackney area, particulary as the boom gets out of control in neighbouring Islington. It is perhaps no coincidence then that this has been accompanied by the utter failure of Hackney Council to process housing benefit or council tax benefit claims. As private landlords push up rents, as the council increasingly enters into deals with Housing Associations to privatise estates, many working class people in the borough are now facing court proceedings, eviction or baliffs because Hackney Council's contractors IT-NET are failing to do what they are legally required to do - pay benefits to those that are legally entitled to them and pay them on time. The Hackney Solidarity Group are holding a public meeting at 6.30pm on Tuesday 3 August, The Old Fire Station, Leswin Road, Stoke Newington to discuss taking the fight to Hackney Council and IT-NET, rather than sitting about waiting for Hackney's councillors to solve this mess. The HSG have also called a demonstration for noon Friday 13th August (unlucky for IT-NET hopefully) at Dorothy Hodgkin House, Reading Lane, E8. For further information look out for a leaflet dropping through your door or write to Hackney Solidarity Group, 136-138 Kingsland High Street, E8. The group has a pager, 07654 513180. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Class War Issue 78 The deadline for the next paper is August 31st. This is the final deadline for all articles, letters, adverts, graphics and photographs. Where possible articles should be sent on disc in a format that is Wordperfect compatable, e mailed to class_war@hotmail.com or posted to the PO Box in the traditional way. Advertising rates remain the same as per issue #77. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Angry People Having listed the Australian group Angry People in the current Class War as recommended, they are now apparently no more! Details are sketchy but Angry People, which ran to 15 first-class issues, will be missed. Hopefully more details will follow. In the meantime those eager on news Down Under (stop sniggering please) can do worse than look up Anarchist Weekly Age Review at PO Box 20, Parkville, Vic 3052 Australia. Lucky bastards with posh computers can also check out the Anarchist World This Week Radio Programme on the internet at http://www.freespeech.org/anarchistAge. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Taking A Mallet To Free Speech Jim Robins is a former member of Bristol Class War currently behind the bars at HMP Shepton Mallet in Cornwall. Jim has been refused copies of Class War as it is apparently "too subversive" and they are currently gathering dust in his personal property until he is released, probably in March next year. We are not sure at the time of publication if Jim is getting London Calling, but you can let him know what's going on in the wider world by writing to him at JA Robins VC2733, HMP Shepton Mallet, Cornhill, Shepton Mallet, Somerset BA4 5LU. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Do You Like It, Sir?
