Welcome to PernMUSH!
PernMUSH is a themed roleplaying MUSH based on the _Dragonriders of Pern_ novels by Anne McCaffrey. Here, we attempt to recreate, with as much authenticity as possible, the society described in the novels. Those who lack an interest in the world of Pern, or in roleplaying in a cooperative environment, may wish to seek their entertainment elsewhere.

Midsummer Night's Weyr(#5228R)
You head out to the ledge.
Forest Glade Ledge(#5235R)
Wilanth(#5934Jaepqst$)
You leap into the sky.
Midway up in the Igen Weyr Bowl(#779RJLae$)
You carefully wing lower into the Bowl.
You fly carefully towards the main entrance, then land.
Igen Weyr Main Entrance Field
Activity surrounds the Igen Weyr Bowl, especially so close to the Living Caverns. A road runs beneath the huge cliffs which form the southeastern section of the Igen Weyr Bowl. The wall opens here in three places, the middle one leading to the Living Cavern, and through it, the Inner Caverns. The northernmost one is the largest, being the Infirmary for both dragons and humans. The ground is solid and rocky and, in the brightest sun, glares uncomfortably.
To the north the path continues, winding its way past the hatching grounds (off the Weyrling Training Fields) to eventually leave the bowl. Cutting across the bowl to the northwest brings you to the center of the bowl. To the west lies a green field full of beasts- the Weyr's feeding grounds. The infirmary weyr opens to the northeast, and the living caverns to the east.

Siara waves to Joshi, interupting her conversation with Jaadun. Neither of the two looks very happy at the moment.

Ranth croons to Wilanth.

Jaadun looks uncomfortable, and apologizes gruffly, "I'm sorry, I didn't know." He looks over to see who the bluerider is waving to, and his expression goes from apologetic to icy cold in a heartbeat.

Siara gives a little shrug, "Doesn't matter," she mumbles. "So...uhm...you and Sahra...you're happy?" She catches the look Jaadun gives Joshi and looks at him curiously.

Wilanth lands gently, lowering her head so Joshi can easily dismount. Joshi waves to Siara. "Af-" she pauses, glancing up overhead and then reassured by the Rukbat's position in the sky says, "Afternoon Siara, Jaadun." She's oblivious to any icy stares. Probably gets them alot from the Stablemaster.

Jaadun gives Siara a brisk nod, "Very happy," he states, though he looks anything but. "Joshi. So nice to see you again. I hope the itching's finally stopped?" he grates.

Joshi raises a brow, stopping for a moment to direct her questioning gaze to Jaadun. "Itching?" She queries, apparently needing more clarification as to what he may be referring to.

Siara looks from Jaadun to Joshi, drawing who knows what misguided conclusions. 'Itching?" she echoes.

Jaadun nods and continues, "Yes, Itching. From your little flight escapade in the hayloft?"

Hicerth lands carefully.
Hicerth has arrived.

Siara grins widely, "Oh, I heard about that! Ranth and I really wished we'd been here that day!" she tells Joshi.

Hicerth makes a heavy landing, his wings folding neatly as he leans to let his rider down with a loud rumble of greeting to the other dragons.

Livia swings her legs over Hicerth's shoulders, sliding down onto a helpful foreleg before making the rest of the descent to the ground.

"Oh that," Joshi looks as if that's not even a concern, giving a dismissal wave of her hand. "No actually I did not even experience any itching. I grew up around those stables Jaadun, remember?"

Wilanth croons softly to Hicerth but gives Ranth an evil eye.

Siara waves cheerfully to her Wingsecond, listening to Joshi and Jaadun converse.

Jaadun nods, "I know, and I'd haev thought you had a little more respect for your past duties than to take a line of people in there for a roll in the hay. Wouldn't hte living cavern have been more appropriate?" he says sarcastically.

Jaadun doesn't seem to have noticed Livia and Hicerth's arrival, he's focused on other things.

Livia pops off her helmet, tossing it on the ground next to where Hicerth settles in, and gives a nod to her wingmate and the other two. However, her path seems to already be set, and from her grimey appearance, she'd be wanting something to drink. Or maybe she doesn't want to be part of flight conversation. Livia heads through the main entrance, into the Weyr's Living Cavern.

Siara blinks and looks at Jaadun, "You're angry that she had her flight in the stables?" she asks incredulously.

"Well the living caverns aren't usually used for such purposes," Joshi says without ire, just a small smile on her lips as if she's got a secret. Or maybe she finds this amusing. "But I happen to know I'm not the first person to use those stables for sexual purposes." She smirks, "In fact Jaadun, I'm surprised you've not brought a girl out there in the dark of night for some fun." "Or have you?" Joshi adds after a moment.

Jaadun scowls, "I haven't. And I do the same thing to the irresponsible stablehands who do so, just as I am doing to you. What if that idiot holder Tally whump or Fallow Whump had come in? And don't say it was the middle of the night, you know that people can come in there at any time. To what, grunting and moaning from above?"

Siara frowns, "You haven't?" she asks rather indignantly. "That's not exactly fair to Sahra, is it? When all the other girls are getting to go to the hayloft." She looks at Joshi inquiringly, "Do you think that's fair?"

"First of all, only swine and men grunt," Joshi says back, some hint of ire in her voice as it raises, "A common trait that assures they are from the same breeding," her tongue is ascerbic as she lashes out. "Second of all, that idiot Tallywhump, fumpywhump, or whoever you are talking about did not walk in, so this isn't even an issue!" She looks at Siara and says rather in grumpy voice, "What's not fair?" Mistaking what the bluerider said.

Jaadun rolls his eyes, "Oh yeah. You're right. Women wail and scream. That's *so* much better. The point isn't that he didn't, it's that he *could* have. Anyone could have."

Siara says thoughtfully, "Some women grunt...Oh, not fair that Jaadun doesn't ever take Sahra to the hayloft. He's sleeping with her, you know. You'd think she'd like a dark place like the hayloft, since he doesn't look so good."

"Actually I believe I managed to elicit a very good moan from Mohria," Joshi says, "But that's neither here nor there," she waves it off. "Woulda, coulda, shoulda," she says point blank to Jaadun. "Lots of things could happen but don't. You're focusing too much on the past, just be happy it didn't happen. I know I am." She glances at Siara and says honestly, "Jaadun probably grows on you after a while - it's what happened to Sahra, I'm sure of it."

Siara nods to Joshi, "Mohria, huh? I'd like to hear about it, but I've got sweeps in a few minutes. Later?" She glances at Jaadun and says doubtfully in the third person invisible tense, "I suppose he could. Did you ever sleep with him?"

Jaadun waves his hand in front of Siara with a sense of exasperation, "Hello, I'm right here. Don't talk about me like I'm halfway across the weyr. Yeah well hopefully it won't happen again. You *do* have a little control over your lusts, right?"

Siara blinks as Jaadun waves at her. "Uhm. Hi." She gives him an odd look, bids Joshi goodbye, and heads off for sweeps.

Siara mounts Ranth with ease, a hand lightly on the straps, and settles herself between his neckridges, smiling as he turns back to gaze at her affectionately, with slowly whirling eyes.

"Me?" Joshi says, practically squeaking, "Shards and shells, NO!" She glances at Jaadun and back to Siara stating, "Especially when he's totally unattractive right now, looking like he's been chewing on lemongrass like he is now." She looks back at Jaadun and says, "Before you tell me what to do or ask me such strange questions, I suggest you take Sahra to those haylofts and try to have some fun... then maybe we'll talk."

Astride Ranth, Siara nods to Joshi, "That makes a lot of sense," she agrees, to both of the rider's statements, as she and Ranth take their leave.

Jaadun glowers at Joshi, "Since I am in charge of the stables and making sure they stay running properly, I do believe I'm perfectly within my rights to ask strange questions when it has to do with you bumping hips with someone in them."

Joshi just shakes her head, "You really need to learn about women Jaadun," she advises, "Men and women bump hips... women have a different way of doing it," But she doesn't exactly give details on how it's done. "If you are trying to get me to promise not to have sex in the stables again, that is a promise I cannot make."

Jaadun frowns, "If you can't even make the effort to at least try, then I'll be talking to Sarai about having you prohibited from visiting hte stables again," he says very stiffly.

"And what about all those others who go in there to play and have fun?" Joshi queries. "Are you going to ban them from the stables as well? You'll have so many people angry at you Jaadun. Do you really want that?"

Jaadun crosses his arms stubbornly, "I'm not talking to them, I'm talking to you. You make it sound like people are up there every day of the Sevenday, and I know that's not the case. It's a rare occasion at best, and is considerably more private when it's not a dragon flight that takes them there. That doesn't make it any more or less right, and as I told you before, I get on anyone who gets caught up there."

"Yes that you are," Joshi says, "Jaadun I'm not going to apologize for where I was when Wilanth went up. It isn't something I want to repeat - nor do I care to, but the fact you are attacking me for it happening is only serving to make me really mad!" Her words are getting crosser and crosser. "So get off my back now!"

Jaadun sounds just as mad, "Oh so if you were in the living cavern you'd have done it there? What about the hatching stands? Oh oh or the middle of the bowl."

"I said leave me alone," Joshi says in a very low dangerous voice. Behind her, Wilanth rouses, eyes opening. The green raises up and growls low, echoing her rider's sentiments.

Jaadun very nearly sneers. "Oh that's a big surprise. Get your dragon to fight your battles for you, since you can't talk reason on your own, eh?"

"You are not being reasonable." Joshi says, "And Wilanth is willing me to punch you out right now. But I won't because I won't sink to that level, I won't be the jerk you are being," She advances somewhat her voice still rather low and angry, "No I won't hit you no matter what she tells me, because I won't hit you, no I won't hit you --" she pauses and then says, "The 'ell I won't." And up comes her hand, curling into a fist as she punches right at your jaw in a mean right hook.

Jaadun staggers back from the blow. A moment of shock later, he growls and swings back, catching the greenrider in the cheek.

Livia walks out from the Weyr's Living Cavern.

Dragon> Wilanth senses that Hicerth ventures hesitantly << That is not a good thing. >>

Joshi reels back a moment but she's no lightweight when it comes to fighting. Three brothers - the only girl - this is family fun for her. Except this is not meant to be fun. Instead she issues forth a little yell and then attacks at Jaadun, jumping at him, fist raised and extended, ready to punch him full force.

Livia bursts out of the door and heads straight for the stablemaster and the greenrider with a loud, "HEY! Hey! Stop that!" She's heading without pause to get between the two.

Jaadun blocks off Joshi's blow with his forearm as she rushes him, and then works more on defending himself from her blows than giving her much in return. Livia's shouting is unnoticed. For now, anyway.

Joshi only notices Livia when something gets between her and her target. She backs off, not wanting to hurt Livia, but tries to come around to attack Jaadun from another side.

Livia glances at Jaadun, then at Joshi, trying to keep in the way despite Joshi's efforts to get around her. Although, this isn't really her area of specialty. Red faced, she demands, "Just what in the name of Faranth do you two think you're doing?!"

Jaadun disentangles himself, moving to keep Livia between him and Joshi even though he's still got his fists raised and is glaring. "She punched me first, I was just defending myself." Now if that isn't a juvenile response, what is?

"He's being an @)#(" The word Joshi uses is remotely a stubby, ornery, runner word sometimes used for people who act just as bad and stubborn. "I told him to leave me alone but he continued opening his mouth and braying."

Livia looks between the two again, her hackles up in full force, "Back off, now. Both of you. I don't care who started what with whom. I want you both to /stop/ and consider what you're doing. The example you're setting! What kind of behavior is this?"

It's fairly obvious that this is bad behavior, of course, but Jaadun won't say that. Instead, he scowls, feeling his jaw gingerly. "I'd say it's right in line with the rest of her behavior.." his tone is snide.

Joshi has a red mark on her cheek where Jaadun's punch hit. It will be a good bruise later. "And you fight as ugly as the mug you sport every day," Joshi says rudely in return. She steps back, considering Livia for a moment, glancing at Jaadun and giving him a mean look.

Livia holds up a finger in Jaadun's direction, while her other hand is busy snapping at Joshi, "Hey! I said back off. That means verbally too." She glances at the greenrider, stating, "You are just lucky you aren't in my wing. I love ya, Joshi, I do. But this? This is unacceptable." And she's not letting Jaadun off the hook, as her gaze swings over to him, "And you. You were given a post in this weyr that puts several impressionable youths in your charge. This is not the sort of example you should be setting. Unacceptable! The both of you!"

Jaadun listens to Livia's lecture, his scowl growing deeper by the moment. "It's my trying to keep impressionable youths from getting the wrong example that lead to her attacking me in the first place."

"Don't you bring that up again!" Joshi shouts. "I told you I ain't gonna apologize for that and that I don't care to discuss it so shut the 'ell up!" She jabs a finger at Jaadun's direction, several times, emphasising her point as well as her body language suggesting that if Livia weren't here, they'd still be in a row.

Livia shakes her head at the pair, her face as red as if she were in on the fight herself, "That's it! You two need to go cool off! If you have a problem with one another that you can't work out like /responsible adults/, then you take it to the leadership. You do /not/ resort to fisticuffs!"

Jaadun stands stiffly, still glaring at Joshi. "That's fine with me. I'll stay out her way if she stays out of mine. And that includes coming around where I do my work. Not my play." His curled lip indicates exactly the kind of play he means.

"That's impossible!" Joshi says equally sharp as a tack. "You know very dang well I visit the stables when I can and I don't know when you ain't in there!" She moves forward and says to Livia, "He started it," Rather like an impetulant child.

Livia shakes her head and states firmly, something she's probably heard hundreds of times from her own mother and probably said in the same exact way, "I don't care who started it, but I'm ending it. Discussion over. If you have to go jump in the lake to cool yourselves off, fine! Do what it takes or I'll throw you in myself." They must have interrupted her lunch to make her so grumpy.

Wilanth> I bespoke Hicerth with << You told didn't you? >>

Dragon> Wilanth senses that Hicerth replies crossly. << Yes. >>

Jaadun looks like he wants to argue his case more, but a quick glance at Livia's face halts that. He's been slugged enough today, no sense in being drowned or worse at her hands. "I'm gonna go back to work," he finally mutters, and stalks off.

"Yeah that's right!" Joshi calls out to Jaadun's retreating back, "Just you leave you coward. This ain't over! I'll remember this Jaadun!" She promises. "Wilanth says you better not sleep!!" Okay so some of those are empty threats, but he don't know that.

Livia puts a hand up in front of Joshi, "Honestly, Joshi! Stop! Don't think I'm kidding! Get yourself under control!"

Jaadun heads north along the wall of the Bowl.

Only when he disappears does Joshi actually look back at Livia and say, "Livia you don't know what happened out here!" She points, "He had the nerve to attack me about Wilanth's flight and what happened in the stables!"

Livia shakes her head, unsypathetic to the matter, "I don't care what started it. It's no excuse for going off like that. People fighting after flights I can understand. But this? Come on now."

"Well this IS after a flight!" Joshi insists. Of course it's wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy after a flight, but then again it's not quite the same. "And I didn't even do anything but try to get into the caverns and now not only do I have a killer headache from the punch he threw me, but I missed MY LUNCH!" And that IS a severe crime, one Livia should sympathize with.

Livia remains standing there for a long time, as if she were still trying to block the greenrider from going after the man. "Did it make you feel better to hit him? Next time you feel the need to hit someone, you come find me and hit me instead, eh?" She claps a hand against her chest with a loud thump.

Joshi cocks her head to the side, looking up at Livia from beneath her lashes and saying sardonically, "Now you know I ain't gonna do that to you Livia." One hand goes to her hip, a rather mom look on her face. "So don't even... " She loses her attitude, sighing as tension releases now that the problem is gone. "I don't like hitting but I just got so mad.... " she tries to explain, "And I even told him to leave me alone but he didn't!"

Livia gestures to her head, "But then at least maybe you'd think about your actions." But when the greenrider calms, she relaxes as well, and sighs, "You know I'm going to have to tell your Wingleader about this? I'm obligated...Are you okay? You should put a herdbeast steak on that."

"I'm fine," Joshi says, "Do you have to tell Terrilia? She doesn't need to know I've been in another fight... really Livia, she doesn't." Joshi curls a hand to her face, "She'll see me this afternoon and know for sure anyways. This is going to bruise bad."

Livia sighs and shakes her head, "It's my job. I'm sorry." She studies the other woman's face, and shakes her head, "Definitely something cold. Come inside and we'll get you something, eh?"

"No," Joshi shakes her head, "I'll go get it." She frowns. "Livia, this wouldn't have happened if he hadn't started flapping his gums about that night in the stables when Wilanth flew. He tried to tell me it was wrong and I should have more control of myself."

Livia sighs a little, reaching as if to put a hand on the greenrider's shoulder, "He can't understand what it's like. No nonrider ever does. I'm sure it'll get sorted out. Without the violence."

"Yeah right," Joshi snorts. "He'll get his!" She seems positive of it. "I gotta go Livia. Terrilia only give us a half hour for lunch."

Livia nods her head, her brow furrowing slightly, "Take care of that face, eh?"

Joshi nods. "Thanks." She gives a wave, heading off towards Wilanth.
